Not as in Passover (the root of the Russian boy's name) - I'm thinking of a Hindi derivation. Thoughts?

Isn't it the name of a club in Ibiza?

All it makes me think of is a goth clothing shop and a nightclub but if I didn't have those associations I would like it iyswim. I think if I got used to it as a name then I'd like it.

Pasha is a really girly clothes designer- little peach tops and stuff. Not really a name.

Oh, Oh!!! I was on a day out with the family yesterday and heard a posh mum calling her flowery little girl over: "Pasha, Pasha!" I thought I must post on MN, but you beat me to it.

Sounded Poncy when she said it, tbh.

Ibiza and cherries spring to mind! No, don't like it as a name.

Nightclub.

And I'm over 40 and knew that too!

It made me wrinkle my nose up when I read the thread title, so no I don't think that I like it. Well that's what my subconscious told me.

A lady in our local very posh family is called Pasha. She told me about her doves once.

In Neighbours on the 80s/90s the teen characters (Scott, Charlene et al) called snogging pashing. So I think of that and the club.

Sasha is lovely.

Pashing is indeed snogging in Oz.... as she remembers her childhood.

I like it a lot. But to me it is more of a boy's name; I know several (Russian) male Pasha's

pinkmagic1 · 10/04/2009 20:57

Always thought it was a boys name of Turkish origin, nice though.

I know a woman called Pasha, she is about 30ish. I always thought its a nice name, though uncommon.

I see Pasha as a boy's name too (Russian diminutive of Pavel, ie Paul, nothing to do with Passover - I guess you're thinking of Pascha, pronounced with an 'H', not a 'sh').

I was interested in your Hindi meaning, but all I could find was this

If you're interested in Indian names, though, Behind the Name is a good place to look.

I thought nightclub/cherries/Ibiza/'avin it large, even though it's spelt differently I think.
Or a nickname for a Pashmina.
Sorry I know two lovely Sasha's though one boy and one girl.

or spelled perhaps.
