How many little girls called Alicia do you know?

I wanted Electra really, but it sounds like a power tool next to my surname (rhymes with "trimmer"). So Alicia is my next best, but I would still err towards more unusual names.

No girls called Alicia in DD's all girl's school. None in my class at school either (TA in a Y1 class)

Alicia is lovely. I don't know any. I know an Alissa and an Alice (and have an internal yen for a tiny brunette Alison) but Alicia is great.

It's a pretty name. Reminds me of the naughty trickster Alicia Johns in Malory Towers.

I went to school with a very cool Electra.
I don't like Alicia because I knew a nasty one in primary. I also used to know an Alicia about 6 years ago, she'd be 7 now.

I like the name Alicia (pronounced A-lee-sha) - I am biased though as its my own name! It wasn't so common when I was growing up but there was another girl in my uni who spelt her name Alesha

I do find that I have to correct people to ensure they say it properly, rather than A-lee-see-a

I know an Aleesha, who is 12. And I spoke to someone the other day who has a four year old Alicia. I don't think it's as common today as you suspect.

I always think the Aleesha pronunciation is based on people not knowing how to say the name. It was Alice - ee - a until very recently!
