I know this sounds silly but I cant decide if Freya is a very pretty or very ugly name.... What do you think?

I like it

although know of someone with surname Benson that used it and could get Freybentos pies out of my head

so not if your surnams is Bentos or Benson

Really like it and not so common now as it was a few years ago, we had three Freya's in a pack of 22 girls!!

Its always one i think you have to be careful with, as regards to surnames. Its quite an exotic name, and with a plain sounding surname I think its sounds a bit daft.

That was quite diplomatic for me. I actually have a complete aversion to the name Freya...

Pretty, but common, as in popular

Lovely name, but very popular, there seem to be a lot of little girls called Freya at the moment.

I'm not keen on it I'm afraid and it is very common in these parts.

Neither. It's just a bit 90s.

pretty - yes, take care with surname.
for individuality, can spell it with a 'j'? Freja - more european...

Really shouldn't have clicked on this thread, big risk of me being upset as I have a Freya! (I'm not that sensitive really, I am very happy with my choice)
I think it is a lovely name.

Lovely name wanted it for dd2 but we have a lot of Freyas round here.

I have always loved the name Freya since reading a book years ago where the main character was called Freya. Unfortunately I realised it wasn't an option for my future daughters when I married Mr Friar!

pamelat · 16/02/2009 21:08

pretty but very popular.

It is very popular around here, you can not turn around without looking at a Freya, I'm afraid. All under the age of 8 though.

Very pretty. But it is very popular and I think of it as a very "now" name. I heard it described as a "Fiona of the noughties".
