Just wondering what ppl think of the name Amelle?
We've got our boy's name picked (Charlie) but every girl's name I suggest to BF he says 'no' to, I've finally found a girl's name which he doesn't hate and would love some feedback pls x
Other names which I like but he doesn't are... Ruby, Amelie, Evie, Lily. Any other suggestions are much appreciated.

I like Olivia but I wouldnt want such a popular name. I like Esme but then my mum reminded me that it's short for Esmeralda which I don't like.
I also like Lilia but it doesn't go with the surname.
I think names ending in ie/y seem to sound better with the surname.

I started a thread about Honey last week, bf doesn't like it anyway.
I love Aimee.
Can't have Emily as it's one of my friend's names.
Got a Lucy in the family.

Think Bethany is a bit chavy and 1990's.

Amelle is a popular name in the Turkish communty. I like it but thats probably because my mate is called it.

Your mum is wrong - Esme is a name in its own right and not sort for Esmeralda

From Wikipedia Names:

Esme or Esmé is a name (usually a first or given name) which may or may not be spelt with an accent on the e. Although more commonly a feminine name there are examples of male Esmes.

Esme originates from Esmeralda meaning "emerald" in Spanish.

The name possibly also derives from "esteemed" or "loved" in Old French. Possibly originating from French root word 'aime' meaning like or love (as in j?aime).

Nancy u r right that Esme is a name in it's own right but it originates from Esmeralda.
The same was as Abi/Abbie, Joe, Harry, Charlie etc are all names in their own rights but are derived from another name.

Mybe he doesn't like 'ee-ee' names - you know Daisy, Lily, Ellie, Betsey etc

Amelle - nah, sounds made up.

I love it. When I was 13 I met a really cool French teenager called Amelle, and have loved it ever since.

I really like it but the problem is that a lot of people will say it like "Our Mel". If that doesn't bother you then go for it!
