At risk of offending people, my DP likes it but is worried it might sound a bit 'chavish'.

Is that the case?

I have to admit my first thought was chav.

I clicked on this thinking 'yes for a boy, no for a girl'. So yes.

Don't like it personally. Not a great fan of surnames used at first names though- always sounds a little American to me.

I have one - everybody normally loves it in RL.

Are there any famous Rileys? DP agreed with the very American comment. But it's Riley or Rodney...

i agree with your dh. certain irish names on english children seem to run that risk - if they are not irish to start with.

It is quite American. Ds' favourite soft toy is Riley Rabbit from Mamas and Papas so I can't get my head past the association.

No. It's a surname.

Me too. I detested that character which probably doesn't help.
