Taya?

Hi. Not sure what we are having yet but ages ago I heard the name Taya for a girl and thought it was lovely. But the more I think about it, the less I am liking it.

We have a short Surname which is why I was a bit worried that it won't be long enough.

What do you all think? tell me HONESTLY. If you hate it then please say it as we still have another 20 weeks to think of another one!

Is it pronounced Tay-ah, as in rhymes with Freya?

Not my cup of tea, to be honest.

i think its sounds quite pretty, but imagine you will get a lot of people assuming its meant to be Tanya, with a missing "n", when written down.

I think it sounds made-up I'm afraid.

Sounds too much like a shortened name.

I have a Tanya.
I rather like Anya more
Taya is pretty.

Taya is quite popular around here. Usually with the names Kayden, Demi-Louise and Jordan unfortunately. And often at high-pitched loud volume.
Not positive connotations for me.

Really? I have only ever heard it once by somebody on the same course as me (talking about her DD) and I thought it was really unusual.

what about Talia?
its similar, pretty and has 3 syllables so might sound better with your short surname?

Sounds too like Toyah for me

To be honest, which is what you asked, it is a chavvy sounding horrible name. I can't say I have ever heard it before and i don't wish to offend anyone of course, but don't call your DD that.

Maybe:

Talia
Anya
Tanya
Maya
Manya

They of course may be equally hideous to someone else.....

chloemegjess - if you like it use it

according to MN unofficial polls I've given my DD1 a name thats too common, DD2 a name thats too chavvy and DD3 a boys name

I think if you have a short surname a longer name might be better suited though

Honestly? I hate it.

Yer we made sure my DDs name was 3 sylabals so it went well with the surname but stuck this time round! Should wait till I know what it is before I start thinking too much as that halfs the options!

I think it's pretty and haven't heard it before. The only thing I would have against it is people will be saying...eh...Taylor - no....Tyler - no...oh Taya - never heard that!

Horrible. Sorry - sounds like a name you'd hear on Jeremy Kyle.
