Is this a name??

I am pregnant with DS3, I really like the name Wilf, but can't find it in a baby name book anywhere. I struggle with boys names as a 3rd child was always only a dream. Does anyone know of anyone called that and is that the correct spelling??

It's short for Wilfred - so, yes, it's a name

Short for Wilfred? yeah, I like it.

If I had another boy I'd go for Win, short for Edwin.

mmj, you can have several different shortenings of the same name, like Mags, Maggie and Daisy for Margaret.

And I hate myself for such a boring post. I'd better get back to that thread for people with not-very-many friends...

If you like Wilf then please register him as Wilfred and then shorten it. Wilfred is a name, Wilf is not. If he is Wilfred and dislikes Wilf then at least he has an alternative of Freddie.

FWIW I quite like Wilf - I just think he should have options.

I know a Wilf - four months old, very cute and think it is a great name.

My mum calls me vinegar tits when I get a bit stroppy or bossy.

We used to have a sneaking love for watching old Prisoner Cell Block H repeats.

I really like it and you can have Wilf or Fred if you choose Wilfred.

Wilf would be ok if he looked like Alf Garnett.
