Interesting. Is it short for something or just on its own?

Rita is very pretty. Can also be short for Margerita, which I find lovely.

I can't pronounce my 'r's very well though, so would never choose it.

Sorry - very first thought "Lovely Rita meter maid" (that may well be my age though).

Just makes me think of The Beatles 'lovely Rita, meter-maid'...and I'm not that old!

Then again, she might grow into it...name choices are really really difficult.

Not my favourite name in the world to be honest, but it might grow on me, it's unusual, hmmmm I really like the name Ruth actually so it may well grow on me.

If you like it, it really doesnt matter what anybody else thinks! If we were all called names that everyone likes/approved of, what a very boring place it would be. And she wouldnt be mixed up with the other thousand kids called the same thing at school.

Hulababy · 26/02/2007 19:53

I don't lie it TBH.

However, it's only what you and DH think that matters really.

I agree with the movie star thing!
Like Ava, Ginger etc...
Go for it!

I'm obviously in the minority for liking it.

When my mum told her mum what my sister was going to be called she said 'that's a stupid name for a baby' - trouble is, how do you pick a name for the right age? She might not be a Rita now but could be in 20 years. It's tough.

I like it: immediately thought of Rita Hayworth.
