31 weeks with a little boy and have a list I need to shorten. DH is a bit "meh" about all names except one but is failing to suggest any. Please help me narrow this list down. Surname likely to be Max (though Im also being influenced by pregnancy hormones and the fact this is the last dc and want to use Fox). Surname is very similar to Cavendish.

Oscar
Rory
Sonny
Travis
Finn
Aidan
Lawrence
Sid
Otis

I like Sonny the most.

I think the one syllable first names don't sound great with a one syllable middle name. E.g. Finn Max/Fox, so I would balance it out by one of the two names being longer.

Oscar is now a top 10 name so seems a bit more popular than most of your other choices. (Finn popular too)

Rory is probably my favourite.

Rory Max Smile

My favourites from your list are Rory, Finn and Aidan. Oscar, Otis and Lawrence are also nice but I'm not too fond of the others. Sonny and Sid sound too much like nicknames for my taste and we had a pet called Travis when I was younger so I associate that name with 4-legged, furry things!

My husband is also useless at suggesting potential names, happy enough to veto all my suggestions but is yet to come up with a single of his own

Lawrence or Rory. Lawrence is a lovely name, one of my daughters goes to school with a Lawrence and it was only when she started saying it that I realised how nice it was.

Oscar Rory or Finn. All are lovely.

Very much dislike Sonny and Sid.

I love Aiden & Otis !
I think it's good to have a short list as both my dc " looked" like they suited a certain name on our lists (not our first choices )

Personally I'd narrow it down to Rory, Finn, Aidan, Lawrence (although I prefer Laurence spelling) and Otis.

Oscar's nice but incredibly popular now, Travis and Sid just doesn't sound pleasant to me (plus parents used to play Captain Beaky on long car journeys when I was little, so Sid is now indelibly linked to Hissing Sid!) and Sonny is too informal/nicknamey.

Faves are probably Rory and Lawrence (love Laurie as a nickname).

Rory is in my top two... especially as it means "red haired king" and DH is a carrot top :)

My other possible is Jeremy... what do people think?

Laurence is a nice name but brings back horrid ex memories for me :)
xx

I like Lawrence the best.

Thanks for your responses! Lawrence is my favourite but Travis is DHs. We know a Travis who is amazing so that is what is giving us the good connotationa of the name.

They are all lovely names op .
We also thought of how names would be shortened or nicknamed when choosing names .

Great list! My favourites in order are Travis, Otis, Aiden, Sonny and Lawrence. I don't dislike any of them though, and Fox would be a fab middle name.

Wow you have got some of my top names in there including DS's! I have loved Oscar for years but the sudden popularity put me off. Aidan, Rory, Finn and Lawrence Smile are gorgeous.

Oh yes and I love Travis too.

Btw, there is an actor called Laurence Fox, married to Billie Piper I think? in case that has any bearing on your decision.

oooh I never realised about those two names together. I nearly planned on Fox as a first name but dd is Meg. Imagine calling them in the park! Thats my main concern with Lawrence too - dds name. Two kids both named the same as Little Women characters.

My favourite from your list is Rory, closely followed by Finn.

Rory Fox Surname would be very cool and goes beautifully with Meg.
