I'm thinking of calling my little girl Sofia but my surname is Webster.

My husband seems to think she will get taken the mick out of because of Sophie Webster from Corrie!

What do you think?

I don't think I'd have made the connection - and it's a slightly different first name anyway. Plus corrie isn't as popular as it used to be. It wouldn't put me off.

It wouldn't occur to me but then I don't watch Corrie

I like it. But I don't watch Corrie so it doesn't have any connections for me.
Is it sof-eye-ah
Or Sophie-ah?

Thanks for your replies..

I would most probably pronounce it Sophie-ah but spell it Sofia!

By the time she's old enough to watch soaps, the character will be long gone.

I don't watch corrie so would never have made the connection... but I think Sofia is a beautiful name Smile

Oh I'm an ex Corrie viewer and I made the connection immediately.

To be honest, hearing 'Sofeeeee' in Corrie has turned me off the name Sophie completely, whereas previously I really liked it. Now I dislike it.

I don't watch television but even I know about Sophie Webster! (Goodness knows how).
I made the connection straight away...

I watch Corrie when I'm with my mum but wouldn't have thought about it without it being pointed out. Certainly no idea how someone who doesn't watch tv would Confused

I wouldn't go for it. If I did, prefer Sophia spelling

I have one spelled that way Smile. I honestly wouldn't worry about the Corrie angle. She's not going to be aware of it. Mine occasionally gets Fia as a nickname.
