So she'll be a sister to Chloe. Both DH and I like Sophia, but not so keen on Soph as the natural nn. I'd like to recognise my mum, who's name is Eleanor, so was planning on Ellie as the middle name (so the MIL and step-mum don't necessarily twig and get offended). We like Sophia Ellie.

However, we now think we are leaning towards Amelia and love Millie as the nn. But that doesn't work with Ellie.

What are your thoughts and other suggestions like Chloe, Sophia, Amelia?

Thanks!

Sophia is much nicer than Amelia IMO and Millie is dull and everywhere...

Do you think so, Monsti? Glad to hear opinions.

Chloe's middle name is Annabelle. And we know a good few Jessica's.

On phone so will need to post and look again at other suggestions Smile

Emelia...I like that it's a bit different, but is v v close to my sisters name.

Olivia...I like but DH says the nn Livy reminds him of liver and won't consider it!!

Prefer Sophia to Sophie. Love Eleanor, but Ellie is a bit dull and overused. What's MIL and step moms names? Could you put them all together somehow?

I like having middle names as a way of remembering loved ones, but not worth upsetting family members. What about using your middle name?

What about Helen/a, a nod to your mother's name in them? Or Nora or Nell - they're linked to Eleanor too?

Eleanor is beautiful, that would be my choice.

I think Amelia Ellie is fine if you love the name - it would be a rare thing for someone to say her nn together with her middle name.

Could you have Elle as the middle name?

Sophia is much nicer than Amelia, and I find Millie a bit wet. I like Sophia Ellie, although prefer Sophia Ellen, which is very elegant (though maybe a bit obviously close to Eleanor).

Elle/Ella as a middle name?

Thanks for thoughts. Interesting that Sophia is south preferred to Amelia.

Other mothers are Monica and Jean, but neither me or DH feel the need to honour them in quite the same way Wink. Ellie was my mum's nn so that is why I was leaning to that.

Will sleep on it and see how things settle. In the 2013 name chart Sophia has overtaken Amelia now....I seem to like common names!

I love pp's suggestion of Sophia Ellen. Ellen is nice as a MN and still recognises your mum. I prefer Sophia to Amelia or Millie.
