Dexter ... Felix's little brother?

Hi!
Moving on from the other tread:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/2142379-If-Felix-got-a-little-brother?pg=2

We've actually considered Dexter again. Both me and DH really likes the name. Only...

I find it to be a really strong name, which I like.. but is it too strong (for a little brother)?
Felix and Dexter.. shouldn't it be the other way around..

Also Felix has a middle-name which is Leander, and I struggle to find a nice middle name who goes with Dexter?

Any suggestions?

Felix Dexter is the name of a comedian/actor.

Dexter isn't going to be 'Felix's little brother' though, he'll be Dexter. A completely separate person who's brother's name will have no bearing on. The older brother doesn't have to be ' the strong one'!! It's not a great base for a sibling relationship there.

I like Dexter, its a great name. I'd go for a shorter mn - Hugo, John, James, Sean, Mark, Rhys all sound nice to my ears. Alexander also jumps to mind (breaking own point on shorter mn) but you might feel is too X heavy.

Yes, I immediately thought of Felix Dexter too.

I like both names and think they go well together. Agree that dexter needs a shorter/punchier middle name.

I know that my sons will be separate persons, but I still want their names to fit together. And why would the base for a sibling relationship be bad, just because I think Dexter is a stronger name than Felix?
What I think of a name has nothing to do with how I treat my children.

I thought about:
Dexter Levion
Dexter Leon
Dexter Matheo
Dexter Emilian
Dexter Nathaniel

or something like that?
Would preferably like the middle name to be a little softer, so the full name will have a nice balance :)

Sorry but you are seriously overthinking this. For the vast majority of their lives your sons won't even live together. Anyway, the names go fine together. Dexter isn't any more 'strong'. They are both exactly the same to me.

In brief, go with Dexter! Smile
