My choice, DH's choice and the kids' choice for Dd2 due any day now, in no particular order -

Nancy
Kitty
Marnie

I love all 3 but have slight reservations about them all individually.

Other considered and discarded choices include:

Bea/Beatrice
Leonie/Leonora/Leni
Agatha/Aggie
Sylvie
Cecilly/Cece
Violet
Eleanor/Nell
Maude
Adeline/Addie
Ramona
Willa
Dorothy/Dot/Dotty/Dory/Dorrie
Joni
Elsa
Frances/Francesca/Franny/Frankie
Harriet/Hester/Hattie/Hettie
Jeannie

Please help us decide, I'm worried she won't want to come out unless she has a name Wink

I like them all. My favourite is Marnie, lovely and really under used.

Kitty is nice, but I would go for Katherine and then Kitty as a nn because it's a bit little girly imo.

Nancy is nice as well.

Marnie.'
Agree with outraged that kitty is too girly.

I love Marnie, it's so cute. I wouldn't choose Kitty as I think it's cute on a child, but not on an adult which eventually dd will be.

Thanks for the replies. Would normally go for the full name on BC and Kitty as nickname but one of DD1's middle names is Catherine (after MIL), so would feel a bit odd.

Would she consider donating it to the baby? If she has another middle name she might not mind. Sharing a name could be a nice bonding thing?

Kitty or Marnie. Not keen on Nancy.

Don't like Marnie, or Nancy. Kitty is sweet as a nn.

Love Harriet, Sylvie, Violet.

Kitty. Don't like Nancy or Marnie.

The young Kitty that I know is Kathleen on the BC.

Of your top three I like Marnie most. I think I like some of your rejected
names more though.

Are you a fan of True Blood by any chance?! I love the name Kitty, it gets my vote!

What would Nancy be short for? Annette?
I also like Kitty.

Thanks for all the input. Marnie just edging it so far, although you lot are rubbish at reaching a consensus Grin

I am losing badly as Nancy is my current 1st choice, Kitty is the choice of DS1 and DD1 (DS2 at 22 months is barred from the vote unless you consider E-I-E-I-O to be a serious contender)
Marnie is DH's fave. I do love them all though and several from the discard pile ~indecisive~

idlefolly funnily enough I've never seen True Blood but just googled the cast list and see why you would think that!

jennybluewren Nancy would be the full name, not keen on Anne or it's derivatives.

Nancy for me.

Marnie I think is really horrid, sorry - but I knew an American Marcie who had a voice like nails down a blackboard and it reminds me of that - so I just think 'Ayyyt's maaaayy, MAAAAWNIEEEE!!!!' - it has the potential to be ULTRA WHINEY.

Kitty is nice, but a bit cutesy, especially if you don't want to have a long version.

Nancy!

OK, here's why.

It doesn't sound faddy.
I've only known one in real life.
Its nerdy and playful.
No one is going to get it wrong. What other name does it sound like (please read my thread about names being misheard)

Marnie can be Macy or Marcy
Kitty is popular at no and a little twee.
Elsa is growing in popularity after Frozen.

You really can't go wrong with Nancy.

Kitty.

Followed by Nancy.

Marnie is awful. Pure 1980s, in the style of Tammy or Jody.

Really love Nancy and most of your discarded list
Really not keen on Kitty or Marnie

Marnie is hideous. Like 1980s american teen sitcom. Nancy is much better

Nancy and Kitty are ok....

Marine is pretty vile

Nancy - it's the coolest girls name ever. Makes mevthink of a tiny, elfin little girl with wild hair. Beautiful.
