If my name is Tilly- is Willa to similar for a dd?

Just that really - changed the names slightly but think along those lines. Dd's name would be a shortening of a 'full name'- think Lillian but known as Lily - and mine is also a shortening so our full names would be very different - but is it going to sound too silly in everyday life to both use two syllable names with the strong 'l' sound in the middle? I only have 7 weeks to go so I may be entering the overthinking stage....we've had our girl's name picked for so long!

In everyday life you will mostly be mummy when around her. Other parents won't know your name so won't use it.

Is the name Willa? Don't know about being close to your name but it's too close to willy for my taste!

Absolutely fine.

For siblings too close but mother/daughter not a problem.

Agree with PP you will be Willa's mummy for most of the time.

If you want something similar but to avoid willy connotations, I know a lovely 'Milla' (could be short for Camilla, Millicent, Amelia etc if you want or stand alone)

And doesn't matter about the similarity to Tilly IMO.

My first thought went to willy. Cue a lifetime of playground teasing. Don't do it.

OP changed the names slightly, she's not naming her DD "Willa". Stop worrying about "Willy"!

Thanks for your thoughts, the name isn't Willa! ( although I don't hate Willa) Was just trying to think of two /Tilly/Millie/lilla/ etc etc names to illustrate what I meant!

I've no idea what the names are. She mentions Willa, then Lily. I'm confused and can't offer an opinion.

I think I know what you mean Smile . My eldest daughter is called Sofia, and it's sometimes shortened to Fia which is very similar to my name, in that we both have short names with the letters FIA in them. I never really thought about it and it doesn't bother me at all, but I'm a chronic underthinker when it comes to my children's names - I've just went for my favourite names each time.
