any thoughts on that name please?
I actually walk in the dark with boys names and this is the only one which keeps coming back.

I like it. It has the same vibe as Conrad and Lionel in my opinion

I like it, because I love the Wilde play. Hate Ern and Ernie though.

Not keen, sorry.
I don't like Ernie either - just too old-manish for me.
I'd put it in the same camp as Albert, Alfred, Ronald, Walter, etc. Just not for me.
But if you like it, go for it!

wasn't 'earnest' a gay code word for if a man...er.....gave or took?

Ernest Boulton was a famous Victorian cross-dresser/homosexual - big, v popular trial. Not that it matters - it's a nice name.

I like Ernest but discounted for us as I'm not keen on it's shortenings, too akin to ubiquitous Charlie/Harry/Freddie/Alfie/etc.

I do not like it. What about Stanley?

Much appreciated :) Thank you!
I am not to keen on the shortening as well.
Still looking at other options, like Theodor (not Theodore).
Stanley is my dad's name, so it is out, as I do not like doubles.

Yes! Think I might actually like Algernon too

Ernie is sweet but I would be more inclined to call a pet by this name rather than a baby.
