Baby names

Heidi, Saskia or Gabriella?

Could you give me your opinions please? DH is European, so we're looking for something that is fairly international. Our surname has two syllables.

Thank you! Baby is due on Monday and we're nowhere near making a decision!

Saskia is a gorgeous name. I like Gabriella too but not keen on Heidi.

I have a Saskia but it sounds wrong in French. Not keen on the others - sorry.

Saskia is lovely.

Gabriella is okay.

Heidi makes me think of 1970's porn stars.

Heidi. I met a lovely little one (blue eyes, blond hair) recently and it's the first I've come across. It is a really lovely name.

I know an adult Heidi who is a right cow and her son is a priggish little so-and-so which puts me off the name completely, but on the other hand I know a lovely 9 year old Heidi who is absolutely gorgeous, she has a great personality and is wonderful all round - and is not part of my family!

I love Gabriella and Saskia is very nice as well. Not keen on Heidi.

Gabriella is the only one I like. Saskia sounds too harsh for me and Heidi - well it just makes me think of Hi-de-Hi and Su Pollard

Saskia is my favourite of those.

It's the sassiest girls imo.

But the others are good too.

maggiethemagpie we pronounce Saskia in the Dutch way so it sounds like "Suskia" which is softer. I have also heard it pronounced Zuskia in Germany which does sound harsh.

Ooh thank you for all your thoughts. I was keen on Heidi, DH on Saskia - we both quite like Gabriella.... but I'm not so sure of Heidi now (interestingly in Switzerland where another relative lives, it's quite an old fashioned name like the equivalent of a UK Edna or Joan). I think we might be leaning towards Saskia...

Thank you!
