Further to this www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/2133453-Totally-stuck-for-girls-names-overthinking-this thread...

We had the news yesterday that new baby is a boy Blush. Thank you for all the lovely suggestions - I loved Saskia (we won't talk about DH's total refusal to consider it Envy because it's a moot point now)

Now we have to start all over again with boy names. Bizarrely we were both convinced it was a girl.

Anyway. The name jostling begins here. With I quite like Felix. He isn't sure..

Some of the same rules apply, no names ending in Y or an 'ee' sound. No names of cars. No names that start with K or names that are surnames.

DS has a classic name but uncommon (I think) that ends in Y.

Loved the many good suggestions on the other thread. Hope you can help again Smile

Sebastian, Ivan, Leon, Arthur, Stanley. DH vetoed all my boy names on the grounds they were "effeminate", so it was a good job we had a girl!

A man called Felix put me off the name - he used to phone my work and noone believed he was a man as he sounded a lot like a lady. He wasn't very nice either.

Reuben, Isaac, Rex (I don't like, but I know other people do and it has the x sound in it), Eli, Elijah, Dominic

Felix is a mummy's boy name IMO. Sorry but I immediately think "wet".
Alex/Alexander/Zander is cool-don't know if too common.
Agree with Elijah, Miles and Leo.

I'm always confused by people who are convinced the child is one gender (in the absence of any evidence) and then it pops out the other. Genuine question OP - why were you so convinced it was a girl? (I'm assuming you didn't have a scan and they got it wrong)

Haven't had time to come back to this bar a quick check, some lovely names. I will go and have a proper browse later when I have more time but I like Guy and Ferdinand (nn Ferdi ?) and also Miles but don't know about a M name, DS is Monty - that might help ?

MaggieTheMagpie - One sonographer suggested a baby girl but was careful to tell us it was an earlier scan and couldn't be 100% so we would have to confirm at a later scan. However in the meantime I opted for some genetic testing and as part of the results they can let you know gender, and it was confirmed that we are expecting a boy. That's how we got here. I would have been wrong, I was convinced between the scan and my totally rubbish instincts that it was a girl!

I've got a Felix. He's fab. Old fashioned and a bit unusual. Like his name.

Fergus goes well with Monty.
Or Hector.
