I've met two babies called Richard in the past fortnight. Is this a fluke,or an up and coming name. Yes,I know it's a tiny sample size.

What do you think of it?

No I'm not pregnant sadly.

A classic so you will always get a few- it doesn't mean it is going to become popular.

I didn't think it was old enough to be a classic, more like our parent's generation, than grandparents. But perhaps it is.

I'd never met a young Richard before. It really suited the baby I met today.

I know a 2 year old and a 4 year old Richard. the 2 year old's twin brother is John which I haven't heard used on a young child before.

I suppose it's fairly common amongst elderly men too though. I mean look at all the Dicks in Enid Blyton's books, but I didn't think it was as much of a classic as Willam,Edward and George.

I knew quite a few Richards growing up, they'd all be 24/25/26 now.

I don't think it's been gone long enough to be "coming back" per se, but it is a good classic name so probably never really goes away.

Richard and John?

As in Richard the Lionhearted and King John? Are the parents into history baby?

Someone I know just gave their son the middle name Richard.

There was quite a lot of Richard III-ishness around last year, what with the bones in the car park and the White Queen programme etc.

I know a young Richard with middle name John. He gets called Richie or Rich. Has brothers called Matthew and Jonathan.

Richard was our top choice for DS, after Richard Osman Grin. We changed our mind about 2 weeks before he was born. I think any future sons will be called that.
