Basically that....

Is it:
Low-ki (long first syllable)
Lo-ki (short first syllable)

Thanks! Smile

I'd say the second one - Lo-ki.

I'm scared that this question is under the topic of baby names…….

SloanePeterson · 15/07/2014 18:21

It's pronounced 'mother please don't do it, I'm an innocent child.'

It was Low-key in that movie with Matt Damon. Isn't it the name of a Norse god?

ilovepowerhoop · 15/07/2014 18:23

a friend on facebook has a dog with that name!

Trazzletoes · 15/07/2014 18:26

It's like low-key.

Artandco · 15/07/2014 18:26

Use it as a middle name. It's fine

BettyBolognese · 15/07/2014 18:26

If it Loki as in the avengers... Then it's Low-key.

Also generally not a. Attractive character. See anything to do with The Avengers. Or that film with Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Alanis Morrissette as God.

As in I went to a very low key wedding last week.

Low-key

Aethelfleda · 15/07/2014 18:33

Er- it's low-key, but seriously, read your Norse Myths before you pick it! He's the trickster god who is mischievous as hell, happily made everyone's lives miserable and ended up trapped, bound and writhing in agony as serpent's venom endlessely poured into his eyes for all eternity until worlds' end....

Low-key

Report
AnguaResurgam · 15/07/2014 18:36

I've only ever heard Low-ki (for both the god and the anti-aircraft and monitoring system).

My dog is a Loki. She was a mischievous pup, it suits her.

It's your child, but you will always see raised eyebrows from those who recognise the name.

noblegiraffe · 15/07/2014 18:37

Low key. As in the Norse god who turns into a female horse and gives birth to an eight-legged horse after being impregnated by a stallion.

Also the baddie in Thor and the Avengers films.

Possibly not a good choice.

I had a fling with someone once who had a child called Loki. God knows why, his other DC had a really really normal boring name.

Anyway. No, OP, just no!

It's a wine tasting shop in Birmingham so if you used it near me I'd think you'd had a good night out.

Report
Realitybitesyourbum · 15/07/2014 18:41

but what if people think your child is called Lochia if they hear you calling them?
not a chance you want to take!!!

Report
thatstoast · 15/07/2014 18:45

I think the difference between Loki and Lochia in terms of the 'call across the park' test is minimal.

Still I would pronounce it 'Low-Key'
