What do you think? Is it getting very popular? I don't think I will ever pick a girls name.....some of my other ideas are....

Hattie
Juno
Astrid
Bea
Clementine
Flora (dh just can't get past the spread, I think this would be my pick otherwise)
Fleur
Florence (but too popular)
Iris (on the rise big time)
Polly
Tessa
Cassia
Kitty

Any other suggestions based on what I like?

A boy would be either Arlo, Cassius, Ezra or Asa!

(Suffering with infertility so I have had too long to decide) Sad

Absolutely adore Mabel. Don't know any.
Also love Juno and Iris.

You have similar taste in names to me so I think they are all great!

Congrats on the pregnancy, you must be delighted!

Hattie - not for me
Juno - love
Astrid - bit harsh and angular
Bea - meh
Clementine - a bit frilly for me
Flora - Scottish maiden aunt
Fleur - bleurgh
Florence - frumpy
Iris - elegant
Polly - so sweet
Tessa - love Tess
Cassia - gorgeous
Kitty - like this too

Mabel is the worst of all though I'd say. Sorry!

I love Mabel. Its my. Dd1 middle name after my great gran. I had very mixed reaction to the name so chickened out of it as a first name. I wish I had bloody ignored the none likers and used it as a first name

I know a Mabel. She's lovely.

We have a Flora. Only one person's mentioned the spread! Also think Mabel is lovely, it's on our list.

I know a lovely Mabel, lovely in herself that is. Her name makes me cringe though, sorry.

It's ace; there are two in dd's class and I've heard it as a middle name a couple of times so there are a few of them about!

Love it! When my DDs were born- 20 years ago, it was very much an old lady name(I had a great aunt called Mabel) so I didn't consider it for my DDs. Wish I had though.

It's a lovely sounding name.

Terrible name, my Grannie's name and she loathed it all her life.

Congratulations OP! Some of the names on your short list are lovely.

Hattie - bit cutesy. Harriet is lovely though.
Juno - lovely, elegant, cool.
Astrid - as above.
Bea - meh.
Clementine - lovely. Clem, not so much.
Flora - dumpy sounding
Fleur - beautiful, but not great with some accents, admittedly.
Florence - ok. Yes, very popular. Nn Flo/Flossie not great.
Iris - beautiful, elegant. I know 3, aged 80, 25 & 7.
Polly - lovely.
Tessa - Tess is gorgeous.
Cassia - too much like Casio.
Kitty - adore.

Mabel is, to my ears, as frumpy, dumpy & clunky as Mavis, Maureen, Doreen, Enid & Doris. Just not in any way a nice sound. Each to their own though!

How about;
Cora/Coraline
Evangeline nn Evan
Lila/Lyra
Sylvie

Should also have added:
Agatha
Agnes
Edith/Edie
Margot

I like Mabel. Even better is Amabel (older, as in medieval, version).
Both mean 'loveable', which is great.

Many congratulations.

Sorry, meant to add:

Hattie -OK but prefer Harriet
Juno - really nice and distinguished
Astrid - not my cup of tea
Bea - fine, but prefer Beatrice/Beatrix
Clementine - really like
Flora (dh just can't get past the spread, I think this would be my pick otherwise) - of course I like it (!) and with recent disapproval of low-fat concoctions, may well be on the way out as a commodity)
Fleur - fine, but prefer Flora
Florence (but too popular) - indeed so
Iris (on the rise big time) - yes again, but pretty
Polly - no strong feelings
Tessa - dislike; prefer Theresa, but not too keen on that
Cassia - fine, though not keen on 'Cash-a' pronounciation
Kitty - very sweet, but would perhaps suggsest whichever version of Catherine/Katharine appeals to you as full name on birth certificate, just in case

Mabel too old fashioned but coming back in vogue. Cassia was on my list. Florence very dignified name

Hattie - ok, not mad on it
Juno - no
Astrid - no
Bea - ok, would it be short for Beatrix?
Clementine - ok, would you shorten to Clemmie? or Tina?
Flora (dh just can't get past the spread, I think this would be my pick otherwise) - nope, can't get past the spread either
Fleur - no
Florence (but too popular) - yuk
Iris (on the rise big time) - love
Polly - ok
Tessa - quite like it
Cassia - no
Kitty - ok, would usually be a nn for Katherine

Wow so many helpful comments, thank you.

Just to clarify Bea would indeed be short fir Beatrix as I like it, however Kitty and Hattie would be just that on the BC!

I think I'm going off Mabel a little.....but still don't have a clue, I like quirky and shortish!

Please keep comments and suggestions coming!

Mabel is clunky and ugly sounding.

Quirky and shortish....

Esmé, Anita, Thea, Ursula, Thalia, Anya, Tilly, Frances, Libby, Lydia???

I like Polly, Iris and Tessa from your list.
