DH and I really can't agree on names for a girl. A boy will be Henry. We have an Eliza.

This is my list:

Clara
Adeline
Emmeline
Rosa
Anya
Thea
Ada
Marnie
Rosalie
Celia
Delia
Rosalind
Cordelia

DH has promised me his list later.
Any views? Favourites?

Thank you.

Your list is spookily similar to mine! I also have, which you don't, Caroline, Louisa, Josephine, Felicity, Serena.

I can't be any help at all, as my list just gets longer, not shorter. But I think your list is fab. I do love Anya, which I can't have as a relative has used it.

Clara, Anya, Thea, Celia are the nicest.

Delia is lovely too actually if you can forget the lezzbeaaavin you incident.

Thea ;) Clara and Celia. Know girls in teens/20s with all these names .All lovely with Eliza

(Only caveat being that my friends dad could never say Clara - her dd- as he had odd weak "l"s so it was more a glottal Cara )

Great list! I have a Rosa (who is very proud of her name) and currently expecting DD2, who currently looks likely to be an Eliza.

Emmeline was my frontrunner for ages and ages, but I couldn't get past the worry that she would spend her life going "no, not Emily..." "no, it's actually Emme-LEEN" etc. Rosa and Eliza are such lovely, straightforward names by comparison - our Rosa has lived in three countries without meeting any confusion over her name (or many other Rosas).

From your list, I really like Celia (though prefer Cecelia) and Ada.

I also love:
Adelaide - I loved Adeline for a bit too but ruled it out because of line/leen confusion
Francesca - can't use but love
Valentina
Florence
Juliet
Julia
Anouk

Good luck. Lots of lovely names to pick from.

Clara - lovely. Also like Cara?
Adeline - it's ok, not that keen
Emmeline - quite like it
Rosa - quite like it. Think Rosie is nicer.
Anya - love it
Thea - love it
Ada - dislike
Marnie - not keen
Rosalie - not keen
Celia - really dislike this, it sounds very dated
Delia - ditto to Celia
Rosalind - not keen
Cordelia - quite like it but very fancy. Would you shorten? Cordy??

Definitely Anya or Thea for me.

Clara - lovely, my favourite girls name (but doesn't go with surname Sad )
Adeline - not keen
Emmeline - not keen
Rosa - like it but thinking it is too similar to your dd name with the 'za' at the end?
Anya - ok
Thea - ok
Ada - ok
Marnie - never used to like this but actually growing on me and sounds nice with Eliza.
Rosalie - not keen
Celia - reminds me of coeliac disease
Delia - Smith
Rosalind - not keen
Cordelia - not keen

Sorry that seems a bit negative doesn't it! Think we just like different types of names!

Rosalind or Cordelia for me! Eliza and Cordelia go perfectly together.

Report

I have an Eliza and also really like Rosa for another dd, but wasn't sure if the similar sound at the end (the -za) would be a bit clunky, as a few pp have also mentioned. What do you think, OP?
