I'm not keen - I've not come across it, so think she'd spend all her time correcting the spelling as it's so close to the (much more common) English version. But it's just a middle name, so I guess it doesnt really matter as it'll rarely get used. Martha is lovely though, and Ruth is a lovely name too.

I am not keen either, sorry. Ruth is lovely as it is. I have never seen that spelling before either.

Love Martha, don't mind Rwth but I haven't ever come across it. If you'd like a Welsh middle name then perhaps we could suggest some others for you to consider as there are loads of lovely Welsh girls names? Or if you are set on Rwth I would probably go for Ruth personally, although Rwth isn't awful by any means.

I was at primary school with a Ruth, very Welsh family but still spelled "Ruth".. I've never come across "Rwth" before and even as a fluent Welsh speaker it just doesn't look right to me.

Im not keen on Ruth to be honest and Rwth really doesnt get my vote sorry. She is your daughter and as long as you love it then it doesnt matter as people would get used to it. I like Cadi as a welsh girls name.

Just looks like a spelling mistake. Stick with Ruth.

Just looked in my welsh bible dated 1804 and ruth is spelt ruth not rwth.

I recently met a woman with a baby Arthur spelt Arthwr. She practically apologised for it so I think she regretted it. She explained her OH is Welsh and that was the idea behind it but I sensed she was embarrassed. I assume she'd had a fair few questions about it.

With a middle name I guess it matters less but I love Ruth, with what I would consider the traditional spelling.

Ruth is lovely, but Rwth looks like you're artificially (and incorrectly) trying to make it more Welsh.

I am as welsh as can be! Never, ever have I seen it spelt like that...I am all for welsh names but it does look like a spelling mistake. Sori.

I am also not sure about having two 'th' as they would sound quite hard in both those names if pronounced the welsh way.

Martha Siwan
Martha Gwen
Martha Eira

I have to agree that it looks like a made up spelling along the lines of Stifyn..
