We're just trying to come up with a bit of a short list of names and would love some inspiration on what others may go with what we've already chosen.

Olive
Violet
Tulip

Sonny
Felix
Amos
Soren

Like Violet best from girls list but it would depend on your surname as it can sound hard with certain second names. Olive is nice too. From your boys list I'm not keen on any (just not to my taste) at a push sonny is the best

Thanks. Jasmine is lovely.

Our dd is called Violet so although I'm not into doing matchy names hopefully it shows what type of name we like.

Forgot, I also love Ezra but DH not keen.

Just need some other names to throw at him Grin

Olive - always makes me think of Olive from "On The Buses" - ask your DPs if you're not old enough to remember
Violet - like this the best
Tulip - never heard it as a name before, and hate it

Sonny - stupid name for a grown up. OK as a nn for a little boy
Felix - quite like this one
Amos - not bad
Soren - is this a real name? Sounds like a malt loaf

So you've already got a Violet?

Hmmm some suggestions from me would be:

Emerald
Ruby
Daphne
Lydia

Seth
Edmund
Isador
Tobias

Absent - a few of the names you have suggested are already in use by family so unfortunately would be no-go names for us. But I def think we have a similar style.

If you tell me you are due in March I will get shivers down my spine...

For girls I like
Clementine
Pearl
Cora
Mary

Boys are harder... apart from Sonny I like
Joseph
and, a newcomer but warming to it...
Zephyr

Haha nope, can safely say we aren't twins!! But that's super freaky Grin

Thanks for the suggestions all, will keep adding to the list.

Not really looking for opinions on our existing list as these are ones we both like and would consider.

Really like Cora.

Quite like Opal too but it's not one for my future kids.

I really like Sonny, Olive and Violet. Sonny is used in many different cultures and I think that adds something to the name (I know a 30 something called Sonny, who is really lovely and 'cool'). I also really like Sebastian which another poster suggested (DH hates it, so I can't use it). Soren and Amos are also interesting choices. I've never met anyone called Soren, but I like the sound of the name.

Have you thought about:
Livia
Iris
Roza
Hemini
Mina
Sorrel

Oswyn
Oswald
Orson
Ralph
Crispin
Guy
Basil
Jasper

Never heard of Hemini. Not for me but it's an interesting one!

Rosa going on the list. Orson is close to going on the list but not quite right.

I like Sebastian too but somehow it just feels a bit long. Our surname is long so it's probably a no.

Loving the suggestions, thank you!

I like Caspar. Probably wouldn't seriously use it but DP can't stand it so no point dwelling on it!

I knew an Asian girl at university called Hemini, it just struck me as being a really pretty name. I haven't suggested it to DH yet, but I love it :-) All the best in finding the right name! :-)

How about Orla, Edie/Edith, Margot, Petra

Not keen on your boy's list except Soren :)

My dd is orla and it's great cos it's still quite uncommon but not in a too weird way. Gorgeous name.

Report
MaryAnnTheDasher · 20/11/2013 19:37

Ps. Can be annoying when spell check forces it to 'oral' instead though!!!

Felix has always been one of my favourite boys names. Our boy choices were between Felix or Sebastian. Weirdly, Olive and Violet were on my girls list too! Others on my girls list were Dorothy and Penelope but we have chosen Sylvie for our baby girl.
