I wouldn't say they are opposing lists. They are all relatively uncommon, strong-sounding names, several with a hint of a foreign country about them. I'm sure you'll find something you both like. How about:

Anastasia
Anoushka
Saskia
Ariadne
Orla
Erin
Ines
Tara
Imogen
Sienna
Nina
Cerys
Freya

i like ines, but already have a nephew called innes.

Freya was on our list for DS1 had he been a girl, but now used by a friend.

Orlaith was one we liked too.

good suggestions.

Penelope could have Polly or Nella (not quite Nuala, but similar in sound) as nicknames. It's also Greek like Iris and Demeter but with the same sing-songy, vintage quality as Adelaide.

Iona
Ariadne
Ileana
Perla
Delphine
Adela
Pallas
Amandine
Calliope

Nuala - show him

Thalia - mention Percy Jackson

Orlaith - please just use Orla. The extra ith will cause all sorts of problems (from difficulty with making home-made necklaces to correcting every form). Orla is lovely - but it is Irish, so she will constantly be asked if she is Irish. btw, the correct spelling is actually Órfhlaith, which is a bit of a mouthful.

I like Delphine, Maya (or I prefer Maia) and Lyra too.

You both have good taste in names, although I prefer Fionnuala to Nuala.

Irish?

Aoife
Etaine
Maeve
Caoimhe
Sorcha
Una

Your other names have quite a Victorian ring to them, sp:

Tess
Nell
Nora
Esther
Pearl
Selma
Lydia
Estelle
Genevieve
Lucille
Miriam
