Girls:

Bonnie
Mabel
Sadie
Esme

Boys:

Zachary
Rory
Sonny
Dexter

We are keeping our name choices from family and friends as we want it to be a complete surprise but can't come to a conclusion together.

Looking for a general public consensus so would you please be able to number them 1-4 from most favourite to least. smile

I'm not keen on Sadie, OP you thought it maybe a bit "chavvy" and much as I don't like myself for thinking like that... that's what I do think of the name too. It's a naughty girls name blush oh I've really crossed the line now haven't I! I also think it's a meh-name, sort of made up without any great substance.

Bonnie and Florence are both lovely.
Rory and Zachary are great too.

An argument in favour of Sadie is that it sounds 1960s to me, like Marnie and Stella.

curlew Wed 18-Sep-13 10:23:36

Florence is fab. I know a lovely baby Floss......

Zachary is my all time favourite boy's name and DDs 2&3 would have both been Zachary. DD2 is now 13 so it's been my favourite for a long time and I would still give it to a boy if I had one now which is sadly not going to happen sad

Sorry Peachypips I didn't see that until I had posted.

My DS name gets a regular slating on here and I ignore it but I genuinely didn't mean to offend you.

peachypips Tue 17-Sep-13 18:57:27

I have just written the post above that my DS is called Zachary. Now, I know that we all have different taste, but why would you say it is awful in such a vehement way when I've just written that my DS is called that!!

Coconutty Tue 17-Sep-13 18:53:25

My Bonnie friend is a Bonita too btw.

Coconutty Tue 17-Sep-13 18:53:10

I know a Bonnie who married a Mr Tyler.

Yep, really.

Think Zachary is awful, Zak is a bit better but I think Zachary is just dire, too 1980's.

peachypips Tue 17-Sep-13 17:35:05

Our Zachary is called Zach normally. Just happened like that.
My adult friend who is called Bonnie is actually called Bonita. She is always Bonnie though and it is fine.

curlew Tue 17-Sep-13 17:27:45

Bonnie Tyler is Gaynor.

curlew Tue 17-Sep-13 17:27:00

Oh, God, I though I'd be helpful by finding out what Bonnie Langford's ral name is- Bonita Malody Lysette. Makes Bonnie sound OK, though.........!

curlew Tue 17-Sep-13 17:18:39

Bonnie's a nickname- not a name for an adult woman.

curlew Tue 17-Sep-13 17:17:34

Esme or Mabel, Rory or Zachary.

The rest aren't names for human beings.

CourgetteSmuggler Tue 17-Sep-13 17:16:40

Oh dear I'm so torn between the girls names. confused

We will put Zachary on the birth certificate and use Zach for short so if He ever felt he needed a longer first name he could go back to it.

Thank you for all your help so far smile

Really don't like the names in brackets! Others are good, really like the top two in each list.

MortifiedAdams Tue 17-Sep-13 14:42:12

CourgetteSmuggler Tue 17-Sep-13 14:40:22

Haha Peacy I quite like names that have been around for a good 200 years but Sadie doesn't sound like it has. hmm.
