What are "proper" names for

Lucy
Ellie
and Ana

I know all of them can be used alone but i would defiantly like longer versions, so that future child can pick there own shortening if they don't like the 3 above.

Ellie - in dd's class she has Ellie's short for Eleanor, Elizabeth and Ella (plus one 'just Ellie)

Ana - a name alone I would say, but you could use a 'combination' name like Marianna or Anna-Maria

Those suggestions all nice and Annabel for Anna is another

Elisha, Eloise, Elizabeth, Elona? some variation on that popular on MN. Eliana (was just chatting to one, that gives you Ana, too).
Lucille.

I havent heard of Eliana before but i LOVE it, its just gorgeous

Anastasia i like, DH doesn't

Lucinda and Eleanor were the two i was coming up with, but i dont like either

Never heard of an Elizabeth shortened to Ellie, but will mention it to DH along with Eliana as a definite maybe

I know a little Eliana, it doesn't get shortened and I think it's lovely. And what about just Lucia rather than Lucinda?

Report
IWantToBeADragon · 10/09/2013 16:07

DH likes Eliana! Any other names along the same vein?

I really loved it as soon as i saw it so thank you lljkk

Any ideas of names that are similar to Eliana, that still has a shortening of Lucy, Ellie or Ana?

Eloise i like, but DH doesnt
Lucia still sounds unfinished as a full name to me, i really dont know why.

Lucille is "nice" but, kind of just ok? Confused hope i am not offending anyone lol

Hmmm Lucifer could work..... This child is already evil! Grin

Tea1sugar, sorry! I knew i would be offending someone I do consider it a proper name, as they all are, i just like having a longer version so that the child can choose for themselves.

DH decided he doesnt really like any of them jamie sob I hate him... I really hate him, how does anyone pick a name with a man involved?!

I've known Ellie to be short for Helen

Names i like (as per short list on my phone)

Alessandra (apparently too confusing)
Anastasia (reminds him of the kids film)
Ariana (no! for no reason)
Cassandra (reminds him of the skin in Doctor Who)
Sienna (no for no reason)
Morgana (merlin apparently)

DH Likes

Lucy
Jessica
Holly
Indya

We both like
Georgia
Eliana (as of yesterday, thanks again)
Natasha

We so far agree that
We dont really want an S name (DSD is Miss S xxxx)
We both want a name that has multiple shortenings
I like Ana and Ellie for a little girl to grow into, DH is sold on Lucy we both like the other, but not enough to use them just as names themselves.

I like Lucy, but I don't think that is does particularly lend itself to longer versions. Here are some, but I think they have all been suggested already (apart from Lucrezia!)

Many more names that could go to Ellie or Anna

My oldest is named William (sometimes called Will or Willie), our daughter is named Allacyn (often called Alla), and expecting another boy in January. We are naming him Wallace (probably called Ace sometimes). I am having a difficult time with a middle name and want something Scottish. What do you think of Wallace Kane? Any suggestions.

What about Susannah? Very neatly abbreviates to Anna.

Lucy is a proper name by itself! It's just short.

I think Ana is Anastasia as people have said but could also be Anita?

Report
NannyPlumForPM · 13/09/2013 23:07

You could choose something with 'ana' at the end? I quite like savannah but you could choose something like.... Brianna rhianna tiana etc etc. those ones in particular aren't my favourites but I'm sure there are lots along the same vein! :-)
