Henry and...

Struggling with names for DC2 due end of December. DS is Henry John and I'm keen to continue to use older, European, 'royal' names (no, nothing to do with the new royal!) as DH and I happen to have that kind of name too.

The names I like so far are:

George
James
Thomas (though DH doesn't like this)
Edward
Charlie (but I'm not fond of Charles and have a bit of an issue with only using diminutives)
Middle name for a boy would most likely be Alexander

Georgina/Georgie (but feel this could look too much like a tribute)
Sophie
Eleanor
Alice
Mary
Charlotte
Florence
Middle name for a girl would be Elizabeth

The thing is, hardly any of these meet my criteria to go with our surname (1 syllable, ends with 'ill'), which are:
-Should be 2 or 3 syllables
-Shouldn't include strong 'i' sounds or rhyme with surname - something DH has been cursed with!

Are there any I'm missing or any opinions on the above?

If you have the middle name Alexander and choose George as the first name then he will have the exact name as the new prince!

Thanks very much everyone! Some lovely names here - plus mine and DH's names have been suggested too so I'm relieved I've described the right type of names. Charlotte is on the list but I'd forgotten to mention it, we both like Lottie as a nickname but wouldn't be keen on her deciding on Charlie as a nickname when older (no offence to Charlies out there but think it doesn't sound quite as posh... ). Same with Victoria and Vicky. I don't want to be naive like MIL thinking that everyone will use the full name and not considering that things get shortened - hence DH basically having a rhyming name

Update: it's a boy! James Alexander is my favourite so far but doesn't meet the criteria... I quite like Arthur (plus it was my Grandad's name) but DH isn't sure.

Congratulations!! James was always on my list but I wasn't fond of Jamie (Love Jimmy though!) - we have an Edward which I still think is my favourite boy's name ever - I like all of the shortenings too (even his current Edz which he thinks is oh so cool)

My best friend has a Henry, his sisters are Megan and Charlotte (nn Lottie).

I wouldn't go for George if you are using Alexander as a middle name, because it will definitely sound like a tribute! Although George does go nicely with Henry.

How about Richard or Michael?

For a girl - Mary, Margaret or Matilda?

I do love the name James, and it sounds great with Henry! Shame it doesn't fit your criteria.

Also really like Edward, George and Thomas from your list. All good solid names, you can't go wrong with any of them imo, but James is my favourite.

Would you consider Peter or Edmund? Edmund was a king of England but a very long time ago. I think there have been kings or tsars called Peter in other European countries.
