I can't decide, neither can DP.
Either name will be hyphenated with Rose.
So Sophie-Rose OR Katie-Rose?

Sophie, not hyphenated with Rose.

Why does it have to be hyphenated?

ProudNeathGirl Thu 25-Jul-13 18:37:34

Katherine, shortened to Katie. Katie isn't a name, it's a nn.
Also not hyphenated.

Cordial Thu 25-Jul-13 18:38:14

I prefer Katie.

Not mad about it hypenated though not what you asked but I prefer an 'a' ending name for hyphenated names. E.g Ella-rose

I'm not sure why I say this because Katie Rose would make a lovely first and second name! smile

The hyphenated isn't negotiable as its family tradition although only the first part will be used anyway.

Don't hyphenate. She won't thank you, it's naff thanks, ma and pa.

Katie but I would give Katherine (or Catherine I prefer) as a given name or Kate.

Sophie is very lovely too.

Neither of them hyphenated for me but you didn't ask that lol smile

formicadinosaur Thu 25-Jul-13 19:19:22

Kate is lovely

Coconutty Thu 25-Jul-13 19:21:17

Sophie is better but neither would be my choice. Definitely don't hyphen.

MortifiedAdams Thu 25-Jul-13 19:21:21

Katie. No -Rose.

If it had to be hyphened, Katie-Fay

lottieandmia Thu 25-Jul-13 19:22:08

I would choose whichever one suits her best. A Katie has a different look from a Sophie.

TheAwfulDaughter Thu 25-Jul-13 19:31:11

It's a family tradition to have -Rose stuck onto the end of things? That's a tradition I'd start to break. Obviously, if Rose is a family name. It makes a perfectly nice middle name. Or first name. But not an ultra naff cutesy hyphenation.

And Katie isn't a name, it's a nickname.

Katharine Rose
Catherine Rose
Katherine Rose
Sophie Rose
Sophia Rose

All lovely names.

Sophie Rose or even nicer IMO Sophia Rose.

SelectAUserName Thu 25-Jul-13 20:26:14

Why hyphenate if you're only planning to use the first part anyway? (Genuine question)

Catherine Rose, NN Katie is a pretty, classic name.

Kt1991 Thu 25-Jul-13 20:30:40

Good choices in names! Mines Katie and my younger Sis is Sophie smile I personally prefer Sophie out of the two names though! I think Sophia Rose sounds lovely together though

TidyDancer Thu 25-Jul-13 20:30:46

Katherine Rose or Sophie Rose.

The hyphen cheapens both names IMO.
