Not sure how I feel about using my boys name, George, if Kate and William use it. Am I being stupid or would this put you off? Not due until December so is it a big deal??

I don't reckon they'll pick George, I think you are safe! They will pick something less used I think - Albert???

I wouldn't be able to call my child the same name as the new Royal baby, even if I had preplanned it so no I don't think you are being stupid.
I'm not anti royals or anything but really wouldn't want people to think I had named my baby after the future king

Not a big deal, no.

Thanks Hawk, fingers crossed! We don't even know if we are having a boy yet, but its the one boys name I really like. Hopefully too common for the Royals though!

Parisbanana - I'm exactly the same, I have nothing against them at all, but wouldn't want people to think I was following their lead. I probably shouldn't care and half of me thinks that to not use the name for that reason would be to allow my name choice to be affected by Royals (when this is what I'm trying to avoid people thinking I'm doing if you see what I mean?!)

If you are not due until December I wouldn't worry. I have a George William. I'm not a royalist, but guess I might be secretly pleased I gave me son a name fit for a king ;-)

I think Albert or Arthur would be lovely (and not only because I don't want them to use George!) Allan you may be right and I need to get over myself, but I do feel like it would stop the name being 'mine' if you see what I mean, for it to be associated with such a high profile baby.

I don't think it can be George because of the prince Charles thing.

I'm hoping for Arthur.

George is a fab name. One of my boys has it as a middle name.

I can see how you could be worried about there being 5 others in his class if W&K used it, though :o

my 13 year old George is appalled at the possibility Grin

There are enough famous Georges though - it's not like it's Louis-Jean-Lucifer or something...

Going to be a bit different here and go for Edgar or maybe Alfred and an outside of David to honor Wales maybe

I'm having just this dilemma - we have settled on another royal boy name. I was desperately hoping they'd have a girl for purely selfish reasons Blush

What Prince Charles thing?

Report
CajaDeLaMemoria · 22/07/2013 21:23

They think it'll be Frederick, apparently.

I wouldn't worry for a while, honestly.

NadiaWadia · 22/07/2013 21:23

If it has to be after a previous royal, how about Richard? Time we had another of those!

But I bet they'll go for George.

Report
Parisbanana · 22/07/2013 21:24

I don't think they'll call him David because then you get those people making connections with David Cameron....too political.

soontobeslendergirl · 22/07/2013 21:24

I thought about Frederick, but there is already a Frederick Windsor so thought maybe Alfred but known as Freddie?
