If it's a girl..
Margaret
Anne
Elizabeth

If it's a boy...
Henry
Richard
George
Edward

Those are the only choices.

No wonder she keeps (in the books) having to say "my Grey son Richard", as opposed to her other son Richard, or her brother-in-law Richard, or her enemy/uncle-of-husband Richard.

Seriously - as a mother with 5 sons, would you call 2 of them by the same name? Even if they were by different fathers?

(a few years later and in Hilary Mantel's Tudor books every bloody person is called Thomas - they even comment on it within the book).

She was screwed having so many children.

Her brother was called Anthony wasn't he? I bet her mum would have got sneery remarks on medieval MN for that. "There's never going to be a King Anthony, you're limiting his life choices you know".

Probably just shows how little say she had in the matter - presumably her first family didn't really count to her second husband...

I was reading this
voices.yahoo.com/so-many-women-so-few-names-tudor-womens-names-2108898.html
the other day and it says that 73% of girls born at court in Tudor times were named Katherine, Anne, Jane, Mary, Elizabeth, Joan, Margaret, Alice, Clemence, and Agnes. Apparently they named them after someone "higher up" to curry favour and maybe find kiddo a place in their household...

Father names the baby though. He doesn't give a shit about his stepsons' names.

I'm expecting a Nov baby who will have a WQ name Grin

I wouldn't be remotely surprised if the Cambridges use a WQ name Hmm so they'd better have a girl or not use the one I want...

Thanks Smile I had found it but Horry's last post made me laugh as it was a good prediction!
