I personally don't like it. Very harsh sounding name.

Oh god no - Milly is nice but Millicent is awful, sorry. If you like Milly why not go for Emily or Romily?

Millicent Margaret Amanda was Milly Molly Mandy's full name.

Like it but not brave enough to use it. SmileSmileSmile

Not quite the same name but reminds me of the baddie in sleeping beauty!
Ugly name IMO

Millie is nice

Lovely lovely name, but don't like it being shortened to Millie or Milly. But the advantage of a long name is, that the child can choose what to shorten it to (if at all) herself.

It's ok. On trend with the "granny chic" thing that's going on atm. Millicent is barbie's middle name btw!

sundanceclaire · 06/07/2013 12:45

Mouse! For a child, no way it's awful.

TidyDancer · 06/07/2013 12:49

I'm really sorry, but I think it's horrible. :(

It is with Ethel for me. They might be well in with the old lady chic trend of late, but just no.

I think it is ok, hard to imagine a child going by a full name but Milly/Millie is fine.

Reminds me of two characters-

Millicent Bulstrode - the big hulking Slytherin girl in HP2
Malificent - the wicked witch in Sleeping Beauty

Report
WidowWadman · 06/07/2013 13:08

There of course is also Millicent Fawcett, the suffragist

Report
SconeInSixtySeconds · 06/07/2013 13:08

Exactly as Mortified said - Millicent Bulstrode, she of the cat hair poly juice potion.

Millie = lovely
Millicent = don't do it!

Report
laravh · 06/07/2013 13:18

Horrible. Reminds me of the evil queen in Sleeping beauty, Malificent.

Elquota · 06/07/2013 17:17

Lovely name. Millie is nice too as nickname, rather than stand-alone.

miffybun73 · 06/07/2013 17:18

Loveit, but not keen on Millie.

Bit prim sounding. She'd get Milly (the opposite of prim sounding), would you mind?

Meredith?

Just yesterday I was in drs surgery with my dc.
And a lady was picking up a prescription for her dd.
That was her name and I thought how lovely.

Really like it
