Trying to decide on a nice not too girly & not over popular name. Have a boys name I think!
Other dd name ends with -a so dont want two if I can help it...
Cleo
Penelope nn penny
Anais
Ines
Maya
Nina

Any other suggestions would be great especially -y or -ie names but not nicknames ie Molly, poppy, Minnie etc!

Esme? Iris? Zoe?

I like your list. Anais is my favourite followed by Penelope and Ines. Prefer Chloe to Cleo which sounds like it should be a nn.

Nina, Cleo and Anais joint first for me. Ines and Maya slightly behind. Penelope a long way down (irrational dislike of Penny).

Love Penelope, Maya and Nina. Cleo is also nice, but sounds a little 'nicknamey'. I still like it though.

But don't choose Penelope, I want it for yet-to-be-conceived DD2!

I went off Anais when pregnant last time as people kept telling me it's too close to anus?!! Love it though

Anais, Maya and Nina are my favourites on your list.

I like Penelope although I'm not sure if its going to get really popular/have certain associations after the Kardashian usage.

Not a fan of Cleo, makes me think of the car.

Lois is similar to others on your list.

Y/IE names could be (also Poppy isn't a nickname):

Nancy
Audrey
Jessamy
Casey
Ivy
Darcy
Rosalie
Carey
Sydney/Sidonie
Cicely/Sisley
Emily/Amelie
Sadie
Hadley
Hayley
Brady
Holly
Lucy
Lacey
Sigourney
Tierney
Libby/Liberty
Marnie
Paisley
Bryony
Brie/Bree
Phoebe
Whitney

Can't think of anymore right now.

I love Anais but have to say I also think Anus so wouldn't call my child this.

Anais (how do I put double dots over the i?) is lovely - haven't heard that put forward for ages.

Then Penelope + Cleo.
Nina is my next from your list.
Familiar with Ines but prefer Portuguese spelling, Inez.

Anais is lovely.

Romily?

Layl77, I would pronounce Ottilie like this: O-till-ee (with the O short like in 'hot').
DH's cousin's little girl is called this and that's how their family pronounce it - comes from their French Canadian grandmother.

Layl77 · 11/05/2013 07:21

Thanks, it's lovely will have to keep saying it to myself and convince dh!
