Zachary is cool. And actually I quite like Pluto!

Forgot to say in my OP - I love Basil, too. Except every single person I have said this to has gone silent, and then gone, "Um. Really?"

The only thing that puts me off it is the inevitable nn Baz, which is dreadful!

Any other names out there? I'm really struggling.

I think my faves are

Sid
Zachary
Ezekiel
Ivan
Stanley

But even looking at that list, nothing really jumps out confused

I like these:

Arlo
Seth
Ezekiel (Zeke)
Sidney (Sid)
Theo (only if short for Theodore)

My first thought on "Lemmy" was "lemming" so yes I think everyone else would come up with that too (and they'd think they were original, every time!)

from your list i love Theo

I like Sidney but prefer it to be spelt Sydney like my late Grampa, Sydney Horatio. Born exactly 100 years after the Battle of Trafalgar.

Hunter is cool, is it along the same lines as DS1's name? I quite like names that were traditional surnames like Hunter, Cole, Carter.

Lemuel Seth and Ezekiel, whole raft of Biblical names had a resurgence the past 10 years. Going back further I remember the surprise when Noah became popular.

Not saying people will point and stare but having a stand out name amongst George and Harry etc can be a burden.

Hmm Tig you make a solid case against Lemmy. I'm not mad on Lemuel either, just thought Lemmy was sweet, but yeah, maybe that'll have to drop down in the ratings...!

twenty thanks for the list - love Lawrence but we have a close family member who's Lawrence. Hunter, Cole and Edmund are cool smile

Like Dustin too except as soon as I read it I could hear Robert the robot singing, "Dustin', for Justin" - aaaargh! That Tumble is a menace.

Zeke is a great name. Other suggestions I think are similarish:

Connor
Corey
Chase
Dillon
Malcolm
Shaun
Howey
Marcus
Rupert
Lawrence
Cole
Josiah
Drew
Hunter
Marty
Edmund
Caleb
Hubert
Dustin
Jason
George
Samuel
Anthony
Frederick

Stanley and Sid have both been on my lists and I really like them. Am also a fan of Ezekiel and Ivan.

Of the two you say your DH prefers I'd have to say Ezekiel, I know Lemuel is a biblical name but it makes me smirk every time I say it. Sometimes it sounds like Le-Mule which is awful, then the rest of the time Lem-You-All, although if youre planning on the nickname Lemmy I think it sounds along the lines of Let me, so Let me get you a tissue type thing, a bit like being called Passme.

I'd be less worried about a Lemming and more something like Flemmy Lemmy or Lemmy (Let me) XYZ.

Hello,

We're having trouble deciding on a boy's name for DS2 (who is currently downloading grin ). DH seems to dislike most of my suggestions, curse him!

Names I like:

Arlo
Seth
Ezekiel (Zeke)
Carter
Ivan
Sidney (Sid)
Lemuel (Lemmy)
Theo
Stanley
Ted
Elvis (completely vetoed by DH)

DH likes Zeke and Lemmy. I do too but will Lemmy be called a Lemming in the playground? (Btw the ace of spades ref is no problem - quite cool!).

But nothing is really grabbing me. We love DS1's name and I really want to love this name too....

Any ideas? smile
