Ida or Ayda? Or other suggestions.........

Only 10 days until Dc3 arrives and we still can't decide on a girls name! All sorted if its a boy (Zak) but really not sure about a girl.

DH loves Ida but I am still unsure and can't decide if i prefer Ayda instead. Middle name will probably be Joyce. Grateful for views?

I think Ida goes np better with Joyce.

Or you could try Aida?

Delurking to say I absolutely love Ayda, in fact it's top of my list if DC3 is a girl! Ayda Joyce is a beautiful name!

Love isla but thats the name of a friend's little girl so unfortunately can't use that. Keep thinking Ida is a bit too old fashioned - does it sound like an old lady?

Maybe Ava but its annoyingly so popular!

Ida is miles better than Adya. The latter looks like you're trying to spell a name 'creatively' whereas Ida is timeless and always pronounceable.

Ada! Wish I'd named DD afterAda Lovelace.

Sorry to be blunt but either is a bit clumpy with Joyce.

Dd is an Ida. Chose it as I thought it was classic but cool, different but not weird. I've had nothing but compliments about her name. I used to love Isla as well but every other girl I came across appeared to be called that and I swore (having a name that 6 other girls in my class at school also had) I wouldn't name a child of mine with something that was so prolific.

I think both babes together give a very old lady name tbh. What about Jodie /josie as a middle name or alyssa, allanna , anya as a first name ?

Ada means noble kind, Ida means work, so I would pick Ada.

Other options:

Aya (design or paint in Japanese)
Anya (favour or grace in Russian)
Aria (lion in Hebrew)
Asha (hope in Sanskrit)
Aspen (tree)
Astrid (fair in.Norse)
Ella (torch/bright light in Greek)
Elsie/Elsie (my God is a vow in Hebrew)
Ember (burned coal in English)
Erin (from Ireland)
Esther (star in Persian)
Eva (life in Hebrew)
Iona (Scottish island)
Iris (rainbow in Greek)
Ivy

Idha is my favourite, in that vein. It's Swedish.

Sorry, you wanted other suggestions too Grin

To me, similar, but better are Anya, Erica or Freya.

Sod popularity go with Ava if that's what you really love or you might regret it. It also sounds best with Joyce (though I'd choose Joy - beautiful)
Alternatives:
Anya
Freya
Faye
Anna
