What do you think of Marley?

Myself and DH have fallen in love with the name Marley, it's actually the only boys name we agree on!! Obviously there has been a film out (Marley and me) where the name is used for a very memorable Labrador. Do you think the name is now a dogs name? The full name will be Marley Christopher Allen (+surname)... I really love it but don't want people to think we have given our child a dogs name. Opinions please!!

I only know a little girl called Marley. I know a lot of boys called Harley.

It's fine as a unisex name.

I would think dog, although his friends won't. Have you considered Harley?

I know of three Marley's. Two are dogs, the other is a girl. And a little boy Marley came into my.place of work today.

I think of the dog or the girl Marley in Glee.

There are worse things to be associated with a name other than a beautiful friendly laborador. If you like it go for it!!

I know a little boy Marley - he's lovely.

Go for it.

Could you ask her of she minds if you use it? Some people wouldn't care at all, only a few might.

I met a little girl called Marlee or Marley she would be about 14 now, I think it is/was actually a girl's name so would definitely think twice before calling a boy that - how about 'Eekamouse' or 'Buju Banton'?

Apparently if it's spelt Marley its for a boy, if it's Marlee or similar it's for a girl?

It's always been a four legged name to me. Before the film, I knew several ponies of this name.

Doesn't A Christmas Carol by Dickens start with 'Marley was dead'? Cool name though.
