Anna?

I'm considering Anna for DC2 but I'm concerned that it might get mixed up with Hannah and they will spend a long time having to correct people (somehow my name can be mis-heard as Heather!)

Do people have experience or think this will be a problem?
sorry to sound paranoid but I'm really struggling to find the perfect name.

I think Anna is a really pretty name. There aren't many names which don't cause spelling or pronunciation confusion so don't have this as a reason against it, I don't think you'll have much trouble with this with Anna anyway.

Congrats and good luck!

I think it's an absolutely fabulous name, but I am probably biased

I have a 2 year old Anna - never had any Hannah mix ups and I'm a bit of a mumbler Smile. It's a beautiful name.

DD1 is Anna! We do get the occasional Hannah mix up but not as much as we thought we would...

She's still the only Anna in her school too so like that it's not mega popular round here :)

Awesome name - I may be biased too Grin Have had very odd occasion where people have asked whether it's Hannah or Anna but that's it - no big deal.

I have an Annalise, who's name is often shortened to Anna, no one has ever mixed it up but Hannah and she's now 7.

Great name, know of three or four in the last year or so, but still not crazy-popular

We almost went for Anna for DD1, but someone pointed out with our surname starting with an 'L' we'd have to hope that she was the only one in her class as otherwise she'd have something too close to bumsex written next to her peg/on her tray

Anna is beautiful. Straightforward, elegant, just lovely. One of those names that just looks and sounds right.

Always loved it, doesn't go with our surname otherwise it would have been a contender.

Love it. Classic and elegant but fairly uncommon these days so a good bet.

Anna is a lovely name. A timeless classic that you can take anywhere.

Just don't be tempted to overegg it and go for Annabel.

I wanted to call DD Hannah but DH had a strong preference for Anna. We went with Anna and I am very happy that we did.

While in the UK and Northern Europe you won't have a problem with the spelling, here in the US people are forever asking me if it is Ana or Anna. Ana is the spanish way of spelling the name. No one has ever called her Hannah apart from me during the first few months.

I have an Anna. The Hannah confusion has rarely cropped up in 15 years and it is the ultimate in easy-to-spell names.

Nice name - more potential for the Hannah/Anna thing in London or other H-dropping places.

The Hannah thing isn't a problem. I cant think of a time I've had to correct someone for calling me Hannah. Anna is one of the easiest names for people to spell. Everyone wants to write "Anna". I often correct people because I'm Ana.
