Please could you rank with 1 as your favourite and 5 as your least favourite?

Second shot at this pg malarkey and need a name to help me feel more hopeful!

Arabella
Emerald
Juliette
Lara
Autumn

Emerald
Lara
Juliette
Autumn (if born in Autumn)
Arabella

georgettemagritte Tue 26-Mar-13 02:43:05

Juliette (lovely - unusual and classic. Juliet was on my list for DD)
Lara (DH loves this and I like it but not in the premier league for me)
Autumn (but not sure I'd use it)
Arabella (not keen)
Emerald (not at all keen - reminds me of the awful Emerald in one of the Jeeves & Wooster books...)

Juliette (lovely)
Lara (very nice)
Autumn (not my cup of tea but nice)
Arabella (ok)
Emerald (awful)

Juliette
Lara
Arabella

Big gap to Emerald & Autumn - think they're awful.

emmyloo2 Tue 26-Mar-13 05:15:57

I really like Juliette. I don't mind Lara. The others are not to my taste at all.

So my ranking would be:

Juliette
Lara

Autumn
Emerald
Arabella

Thank you everyone, at least that's quite clearly knocked 2 out of the water...I do like unusual but wouldn't want to name my child something the majority thought ghastly!! I may use one of those as a mn though.

It seems pretty close between Juliette or Lara...

I like Emerald and Autumn as long as you are slightly arty, they'd be odd names for a solicitor or a bankers child. Certainly could work if DH is French, French names sound pretty and arty to English ears.

I don't like Shakespeare (philistine, my DD1 and DH, tell me) and I just can't get past Romeo and Juliet.
I'm not mad on Arabella, but it could work with a French surname.

Lara is harsh and horrid, Lyra or Laura are much nicer.

Welovegrapes Tue 26-Mar-13 10:02:25

Only Lara or Arabella.

To me Juliette looks misspelled. Emerald too wacky and Autumn a bit out there.

I'd rather have a classical name that can take the child anywhere.

Welovegrapes Tue 26-Mar-13 10:04:02

Just read thread. If French surname then my favourite of your list is Juliette, then Lara, then Arabella.

Astley Tue 26-Mar-13 11:55:53

Which 2 have been knocked out?

I like Lara followed by Juliette. Not the other ones at all grin

Astley Tue 26-Mar-13 12:00:23

Oh I've just added it up, Arabella and Emerald are the ones knocked out grin

Still18atheart Tue 26-Mar-13 12:02:01

Emerald - love
Autumn - love
Arabella - bit posh sounding imo
Julliete - ok
Lara - my exes new fling's name so ...

vertex Tue 26-Mar-13 12:15:34

Juliet, it is so evocative of beauty and romance (sorry if that sound BS/OTT)

But soft, what light through yonder window breaks?
It is the east, and Juliet is the sun.
Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon,
Who is already sick and pale with grief
That thou, her maid, art far more fair than she.

1. Autumn
Lara
Juliette
Arabella
5. Emerald

Love Autumn - could work well with Lara as a middle name!

TenthMuse Tue 26-Mar-13 15:13:39

Juliette (though much prefer Juliet)
Lara
Emerald
Arabella
Autumn

Only really like Juliet and Lara tbh, although Autumn would be ok as a mn for an autumn baby. Lara Juliette and Juliette Autumn are cute.

I also like

Leah
Lyra
Lana

A bit more than Lara

PandaNot Tue 26-Mar-13 16:03:32

Juliette
Lara
None of the others.

Dillydollydaydream Tue 26-Mar-13 16:07:34

Arabella (1)
Emerald (5)
Juliette (2)
Lara (3)
Autumn (4)

petitdonkey Tue 26-Mar-13 16:09:49

Juliette
Lara

Arabella (at a push - there is one at DC's school and her mum is super posh and screechy which has ruined the name for me)

The other two wouldn't be my choice.

Autumn
Juliette
Emerald
Lara
Arabella

Would have considered Autumn for DD but have a relative with the name.

ShabbyChit Tue 26-Mar-13 16:39:41

1. Juliette (Love this spelling as opposed to Juliet which always looks a bit unfinished to me)
2. Autumn
3. Arabella
4. Lara
5. Emerald

BoyMeetsWorld Tue 26-Mar-13 17:28:49

As a few people are asking about / suggesting mn's - here are the proposed mn's with each - don't know if it changes or affirms initial thoughts...

Lara Lisette
Emerald Juliette
Juliette Emerald
Autumn Emilia
Arabella Elise
