I've tried to whittle it down....honest...

Boys middle names would be Nicolas Reginald
Girls middle names would be Sukie Mable or a combination of pip/philippa/pippa and Mable.
Those are all family names and are pretty much non-negotiable.
Our surname is double barrelled with initials P-G,sounds like lerry-dorge rubbish at rhyming, made up words instead Grin
We have two other DC with very short slightly unusual names.

It's super duper early, but I do love names Grin so opinions, thoughts and additions welcome.

YY was me Blush
I know it's normally spelt Mabel,and I'm not a fan of odd spellings usually,BUT that's how my Nan's name was spelt,so that's how I'll spell it.

Ugh,I keep changing idriss to idris but the sodding iPad has a mind of its own!

Atticus is my absolute favourite,I thought Kit might work as a nn for this? Not sure why, just seemed to fit...

I like Earnest but I really dislike ernie, and I worry about that becoming his nn.

I think Atticus and idris are top contenders for boys...then Pasco,Fenn,joby....

But arggh,I love all of them...

As far as Girls names go,I keep being pulled to one name and then another and I can't settle on a favourite at all.

Oh and I'm glad you like Sukie Mable I love it,but I couldn't either as a first name because the short forms are too dull...

Really like Idris, Fenn, Clara and Betsy. Not too fussy but not too dull, and they don't sound like you're trying too hard to be different. All lovely. Good luck! Smile

Oh and Nell is also a very pretty name.

Sukie to me is jut too nicknamy/cutsie to go in the middle of a name, and when I say it aloud it turns into Sukiemable which sounds a bit odd. I think it would make a better first name - isn't Sukie the short form of Susannah?

Of your list the short cool girls names for me are Vita and Juno (other short cool names Nina, Gwen, Miriam) also Romy, which I've only come across for girls/women.

Idris is obviously a fantastic name (Ivor the Engine fan Grin) and we were going to use Ezra so that's great too. I also really like Barnaby.

Kit as nn for Atticus might just be a genius idea! :)

Report
birdofthenorth · 22/03/2013 20:20

That's a pretty long shortlist Smile

I think with four middle/ surnamesI would go for a shorter first name. I like a lot of your names but would opt for Jude, Kit and Otis; and Nell, Maud or Betsy.

It is a short form of Susan/Susannah,but I really dislike both of those names,so I compromised on Sukie, which I actually quite like, but I still wouldn't use it as a first name,as I'd hate it to be shortened to sue.

Atticus would be amazing.
I always think of Romy as a girl's name fwiw.
Mable or Mabel, sweet.
Artemis or Odette - again, how refreshing!

Thanks guys,I'm really loving

Atticus (nn kit)
Fenn

And

Artemis (nn Artie?)
Odette (nn Etta)

One of our DC has an A name already though...I might use them anyway Grin

Not keen on Artemis for a girl, much preferred from your list Merewyn, Agatha, Betsy and Etta (quite like Odette).

Report
TheBuskersDog · 24/03/2013 15:27

If you choose Artemis please don't then spoil it by trying to get everyone to call her Artie. In my mind nicknames evolve rather than be chosen in advance.

Atticus
Jude

Clementine

What are your other dc names...sorry I'm so curious and you seem to have very similar taste to me!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/03/2013 16:07

Don't like Artemis.

toffeelolly · 24/03/2013 16:17

love Jude for boy , I also have one and love Betsy for girl.

Report
FriggFRIGG · 24/03/2013 20:04

I wouldn't tell everyone to call her Artie,it's just probably what we'd call her for short on some occasions.

My other DC are (1st and 2nd names) Skye Matilda and Arlo Phoenix
DP chose Skye,I chose Matilda,I chose Arlo,DP chose Phoenix.
I've never loved DD's 1st name, and i regret letting DP have free rein on it.
which is why I'm hellbent on never making that mistake again Wink

I like Atticus and Artemis best! Many of your names are on my lists too - we don't know whether it will be DS2 or DD1 but half the fun is thinking up great names! :)

I don't like any of the boys names very much. Of the girls I like Clara and Odette.
