There is no 'best' way to pronounce it - it is totally arbitrary, and up to you. Just as Helena/Elena have three (possibly more?!) accepted pronunciations, then so does Lena. So you just have to go with the one you want.

This is DD's nickname, and we pronounce it the same way as her full name, so Lay-na.

Just a word to the wise - there is absolutely no point getting annoyed when people pronounce it one of the other ways. Best just to get used to it.
