What do you think, for a girl??

poppydaisy Thu 14-Feb-13 14:38:38

I prefer Angela!

Bunbaker Wed 13-Feb-13 18:51:20

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Tess of the d'Urbevilles
Boy's name
For a girl - no way

Angela
Angelica
Angelina are all OK, but not Angel. As bad as Princess, or if you are superstitious, a child who is no more.

I think of a Hispanic man when I hear this.

meditrina Wed 13-Feb-13 18:03:44

This Angel is very handsome.

trixymalixy Wed 13-Feb-13 18:02:05

My uncle had American neighbours called Randy and Sindy. Their DD was called Angel, she was anything but!!

meditrina Wed 13-Feb-13 18:00:21

It's a predominantly boys name, an I wouldn't choose it for a girl.

LynetteScavo Wed 13-Feb-13 17:47:31

I love Angeli....DD was at nursery with a lovely little Anglei. Not sure of it's origin, though.

iheartmycat Wed 13-Feb-13 17:27:57

Angelina. ... I knew a lovely girl with Italian parents called this! (Unhelpful!)

Sashapineapple Tue 12-Feb-13 20:24:28

No. I think it sounds a bit cheap and chavvy in English. It does sound nice as a Spanish boys name.

LynetteScavo Tue 12-Feb-13 20:17:40

I know some middle class hippies who called their DD Angel. They pronounce it with a French accent. I am not making this up.

CPtart Tue 12-Feb-13 20:17:24

Sluttish!

Snusmumriken Tue 12-Feb-13 20:11:24

A buffy the vampire slayer ref.....for those out of the loop.

Snusmumriken Tue 12-Feb-13 20:10:26

It would be a great name for a male vampire.

MrsApplepants Tue 12-Feb-13 20:05:41

No it's a boy's name. And also a stripper's name. Sorry.

MidnightMasquerader Tue 12-Feb-13 18:01:39

Not keen but angelica is lovely.

gillian88 Tue 12-Feb-13 17:37:10

I'm afraid I don't like it either!

Rhubarbgarden Tue 12-Feb-13 17:35:52

Terrible.

GetOrf Tue 12-Feb-13 17:35:21

I always think of' it as a boy's name, based on Tess of the d'Urbervilles and Jilly Cooper's Polo. grin

No, anyway.

ZenNudist Tue 12-Feb-13 17:33:08

Terrible name.

Anyone remember a character on home & away called Angel? Played by Melissa George before she got famous. blush

Angel is a boys name IMO.

IslaValargeone Tue 12-Feb-13 17:30:12

Conversely you could do the dancer at Spearmint Rhino test..

TennisFan42 Tue 12-Feb-13 17:25:31

Horrible

keely79 Tue 12-Feb-13 17:00:59

Nope. I apply the High Court Judge test - could you imagine your daughter being a high court judge (or the prime minister, or something equally important) with that name.

Angel fails for me on that one.
