Opinions on this name please, is it popular where you are?

I've not come across a baby Elin (going to lots of baby groups so I know lots of babies).

It's pretty but I would spell it Ellen.

'Elen' and 'Ellen' are different names and are pronounced differently.

Isn't Elin pr. eh-leen? It's Swedish, isn't it? I would only use it with the original pr., not as Ellen.

I know that Elen is Welsh but not sure how to say it. My guess would be eh-lehn?

If you want ell-en choose Ellen.

Otherwise I really like Eline, said eh-leen.

Elin is sort of boring to me, so is Ellen. Elen is also not my favourite, I like many Welsh names but not this one.

Eline or Elina.

Oops this thread is from 2013. Not sure why it has been pushed up again.

I've only come across both in Wales. Lovely names.

Elin I think is more tricky to pronounce (I know two, who each pronounce it differently). El-een is how I've heard it most but I've also heard Ay-lin.

Elen I believe is pronounced El-EN, whereas Ellen is more like El-UN. In England, I think people might assume the Ellen pronunciation.

I have a DD called Elen and have always loved the name, we pronounce it like LN

Elen is superior and is a more concise spelling. Any other name is just different version of the original. It is a welsh deity named after light.
