What do you think? A bit too old fashioned?

It is a bit Victorian, but a nice meaning ('well-born')! She could end up as 'Genie', which wouldn't be too bad.

Awful. Sorry!

I wouldn't, personally, but think it's nice when people go for unusual names

Oh well. I love it but DH will probably hate it.

It sounds too much like eugenics.

I'm sorry but absolutely not. Did it used to be a name? too many awful associations

Eugenia

Not to forget this book...

It was the name of one of Victoria and Alberts children. Also, isn't there a Princess Eugenie?

Reminds me of Ugenia Lavender by Geri Halliwell.

Sorry!

SPBInDisguise · 02/02/2013 17:38

oh yes of course. Eugenie. And strangely I'd never made the connection, yet it was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the thread title
Sorry OP

Don't like it. Reminds me of eugenics, which is not a good association.

In Greece it's pronounced Evgenia, which I like much better

SoggySummer · 02/02/2013 21:14

I really like it.

Makes me think of eugenics immediately - sorry!

May I suggest Bonnie as a prettier alternative? Wink

I love it! Can be shortened to Gene or Genie, it is quite geeky but I like that! Whether a teenage Eugenia would feel the same is another thing entirely!

But I have a similar middle name and I have come to love it!

Report
CruCru · 03/02/2013 14:42

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't like Bonnie.

I love Eugenie. Pretty and sophisticated.

The Russians pronounce it Yevgenia, with Zhenya as a nickname. It's pretty mainstream there.
