It's Scottish, but it's very unusual in Scotland. ive neber met one. It's ver ver posh - the sort of name old Etonians with Scottish heritage might give their child. Quite like it, and your DS is unlikely to be one of 3 in his class (unless he goes to Etonian maybe!? hmm)

he won't go to Eton sadly but hubby does teach in a similar school so we get cheap fees there! Hopefully he wouldn't feel out of place there!

DH has a friend from boarding school called Sholto. I'd never heared of it before. I quite like it!
