We currently have a

Jack (DS)
Ralph (DS)
Jesse (DS)
Brady (DD)

What would our next DC be called (am particularly interested in girls names)?

Aha, finally some suggestions. Thanks Donkey!

Quite like Dexter.

Summer probably the favourite of the girls, I'm not sure if its too girly to go with the others.

Have to be honest I was really drawn to boys' names starting with J but think Ralph might feel left out!
Long time since I named my DCs, don't pay any heed, hope you get more suggestions very soon Smile

Ahh I love Jesse!!

I'm thinking Connie or Maisy

Thanks, took 3 DC to persuade DH to use Jesse, definitely worth it.

I do love a J name, Jesamyn was on the list for DD but you're right about Ralphy and also seems like sort of Kardashian territory.

Do have an older DS who can't name for various reasons but its in the 'name that is also a trade' (as I once saw it called on mn) category.

I think I like girls names that aren't too girly and nothing long as I always use long more airy fairy middle names. DH is sort of blokey in his approach and it needs to be something he can bellow across the park/pub, nothing too emasculating Hmm

Constance was my nans name who hated it so thats out unfortunately. Quite like Maisy, not sure if its too popular says Jacks mum

Ottoleine or Duncan.

Report

Like Polly a lot, Brooke is the right sort of thing. Micah is interesting.

Kate and Anna are maybe a bit plain. Really not into Bethan and sorry Duncan is on my worst names list.

Are Bethan/Duncan Scottish or Welsh or something? Think I'm not that into names that are overtly linked to another country especially as I'm not Scottish, Welsh or Irish. Guess that rules out Celtic and Gaelic names.

Saul and Naomi are too Jewish for me, I'm Jewish and they make me think of old decrepit frum relatives. Also I like to have a second middle name which is Hebrew so would save them for that if anything (am aware use of Jesse shits on my 'rules').

Ottoleine is very pretty, the sort of thing I'd use as a middle name. Typical naming type for us goes like (girl) Rae Emmelienne Damaris Surname or (boy) Charlie Reginald Israel Surname.

What do you think of Parker or Peony?

I like parker! For a boy I reckon you should go for Flynn or Fletcher. And a girl should be Blyth or Camry (I may have made that one up!) :-D
Love the name Ralph btw.

Parker, not sure about that one, a bit like Harper I think it might grow on me in time, but not my baby after all!

Peony, oh dear, like flower names but I'd keep seeing it as Pony.

My motto is, if you like a name, don't be swayed by what others think. My name has been mentioned upthread and I have a love-hate reaction to it, but when others abbreviate it I feel protective.

Another suggestion for a girl, (God loves a trier),
Ripley

Love Wallis!

Liking so far

Girls: Polly, Wallis, Sadie, Carey, Blythe.

Boys: Zane, Charlie, Frank, Sid, Morgan.

I really don't like Jude. Seth, Flynn and Theo/a are awful, sorry.

Orla seems really too Irish to me although pretty.

Paloma is a potential middle name.

Clementine and Temperance are too long and a bit...fancy. DH would refuse.

Lois is close friends daughter and sort of feels like her name, do love it though.

Like Rafferty but I would never use it in full, he would always be Raff which then is too similar to Ralph, especially as some people seem to think Ralph is Rafe (wtf that is all about I don't know).

Donkey, god adores a trier, and I do like Ripley but does it make you think of the film? Or is that just me?

Also Sloane I love. I'm always suggesting it on threads but I don't know if we could get away with using it living in the UK and specifically London.

It's similar to I really like Blair but then I don't want it to seem like an homage to a certain ex Prime Minister.

Also like Reese.

I think maybe I tend to go for more generic top 100 options for boys and then girls I like something a bit different? Not sure, but boys I do find easier.

I guess the film comes to mind but because she is a kick ass heroine Grin her peers won't be clued up about the film will they?

Polly, Wallis, Sadie, Carey, Blythe
of these I like Carey and Blythe best who cares what you think, Donkeys

Zane, Charlie, Frank, Sid, Morgan
Charlie and Frank kiss of death if I like 'em

PS Have heard Hunter is used for girls in America, (not just in The Sopranos!).

We have a Dexter and obviously think it's a great name, but it doesn't go with your other names.
