Evie or Elizabeth

Hi, surname has one syllable so after a first name with more than one. Husband prefers Evie, I prefer Elizabeth. Any thoughts? Is Evie still a popular name? Thanks

I really like both, but know lot's of Evie/Eva/Eve girls and only one Elizabeth ( and i like Elizabeth is a grown up name with pretty nn for smaller girls iyswim)

Elizabeth, so many NNs it's a name she can make her own and never have to be called the same as anyone else in her class.

I dislike the name Evie. It's too cutesy, too EEEv-IEEE, if you know what I mean? Fine for a pet or a baby but not an adult. It is also very popular, which de-values it IMO.

Go for Elizabeth, its classy and has lots of NN'S, Libby, Lizzy, Beth, Bess, Eliza, Lisbet.

Evie is so, so popular, and of an era - and also goes with all the Milly, Lily, Molly, Tilly type names. It will sound tired and over-used very soon.

Elizabeth - a gorgeous name, so long as you don't mind that they may end up as a Liz (which is fine, but nowhere near as nice). IMHO, a million times nicer than Evie (which is also fine, but not in the same league).

I love Elizabeth so think I'll stick with that. It was only because husband said he wasn't keen but he'd go with the name if I really wanted. I didn't want to go with something we both didn't love. But deep down I don't think I could be happy with Evie.

You're so right. Elizabeth is a true classic. Evie was a flash in the pan and I am so bored with Ava/Eva/Evie etc.

Elizabeth is very stylish and very versatile depending on her eventual personality. Love it.

But consider more 'formal' names like Evelyn, Evalina, Evaline, Eveline if you want to use Evie.

But I'm of the "give the kid a proper name" brigade that MN seems to hate!

Just to echo what has already been said, Elizabeth wins this one, and wins it be several lengths.

There are tons of Evies out there now, and not just Evies, but also plenty of Evie-somethings too.
