Eden getting popular?

Is the name Eden starting to get popular? I really liked it from 4 years ago but I've noticed it cropping up more and more on forums about baby names, and wondering if has taken off in the last year or two? I've never heard of a baby called it, but I live in quite an upper middle class area and I'm wondering if it's just popular with people in different areas?
Has anyone come acrosss a baby girl named Eden? Is it considered chavvy or common by some people?

I know a 5 year old Eden (girl) & a 6 month old baby boy called Eden. I think it's a beautiful name although it is getting more popular.

I do think it is getting more popular...

DS (7) has a best (male) friend called Eden in his class.

DD (4) also has a best (male) friend called Eden in her class.

I had thought of Eden as being quite an earthy, hippy name and quite uncommon. I definitely think it's becoming more popular.

There is a 4yo girl at my daughter's school named Eden and they're definitely not an earthy, hippy family! I'm quite surprised the family have an Eden, tbh. I'm quite confused about the name's direction right now.

Yes i know a baby Eden - a girl - and the parents probably would be considered 'chavvy' but are also religious which was why i assumed they named her thus (garden of Eden etc)

I know two. The older one is nearly 5, and was named after the garden of Eden, the younger is nearly two and was named because she knew the older one and liked the name.

I always think if Eden as a girls name. According to Nameberry, it's in the Top 100 names for girls.

Hmmm, I really like it for some reason, but I think it might be too religious for me after all!

I wonder if it is getting more popular because people want to use Edie for a nickname but don't want Edith as the formal birth certificate name. It is a lovely alternative.

I've known a few, all boys.

I know of 4 girls with the name Eden - all in their teens now. I wouldn't think of it as a particularly religious name despite the obvious connotations. I think Sparklechops might be on to something with Edie which is becoming popular so Eden might be the given name with Edie as nn.

My 20 month old niece is called Eden. To be honest I thought it was a bit chavvy at first but I have got used to it now!

It's actually remained pretty static for the last few years. It was no. 144 (378 babies) in 2008, no. 150 (363 babies) in 2009, no. 147 (365 babies) in 2010 and no. 150 (364 babies) last year (in England and Wales). See [http://names.darkgreener.com/#eden]] for more details.

Eden Wood star of Toddlers and Tiaras :)
I also know a 12 year old girl named Eden.
I think of it as a girl's name.

I think it's chavvy. The two I know don't come from traditional middle class backgrounds.

I immediately thought of Eden Wood as well.

I love it. It's on my list for this DS but DP has said no. Sad

I had an uncle Eden, years ago, who I loved. Never heard of a girl called Eden but can see how it works for both sexes.

P.S. Don't forget Nameberry is an American site so refers to the American name charts. There are some names that are very popular here - e.g. Imogen - that are not even in the top 1000 there, and undoubtedly vice versa.

There was an Eden (female) at DS's very middle class nursery last year.

the Eden I know is a boy.

It's always been more of a boy's name for me.

i think its a lovely name, dont know anyone called eden though.

i would like to use it myself, i think it sounds lovely and peaceful, but the story of the garden of eden is one of the things i hate most about christianity (athiest over here) and so i dont think i could ever use it!
