Opinions please on these names for brother and sister?

DaySleeper Sat 08-Dec-12 10:53:02

Do you already have one of them?

dashoflime Sat 08-Dec-12 10:55:27

Really like Honor

baskingseals Sat 08-Dec-12 10:57:41

absolutely love Honor.

forgetmenots Sat 08-Dec-12 10:59:17

Love Honor. Do you have an Oscar already? They sound similar but not too similar, nice for a brother and sister.

Reminds me of that old rhyme "She offered her honour, and he honoured her offer, and it was offer and honour all night".

tiredteddy Sat 08-Dec-12 11:35:44

I know an Honor, she is great. She is known as Oni!

KenDoddsDadsDog Sat 08-Dec-12 11:36:51

Oni means happiness in Finnish!

Dynababy Sat 08-Dec-12 11:46:55

Yes I have Oscar already

Alisvolatpropiis Sat 08-Dec-12 11:52:57

They sound really good together.

Love Honor especially but it sounds like a command paired with my DP's surname so can never use it sad

NagooHoHoHo Sat 08-Dec-12 12:02:01

I think they are a little bit too 'close' sounding for me, but lovely names.

Dynababy Sat 08-Dec-12 18:03:48

Any other suggestions that go with Oscar if they are a bit close?

FellatioNelson Sat 08-Dec-12 18:07:26

Honor is really lovely but I do think it's a bit to similar to Oscar for comfort. Although I know an Emily/Melanie and a Tanya/Tara and an Owen/Ewan and they all seem to get by just fine.

OkayHazel Sat 08-Dec-12 18:39:16

Honor is foul.

Bicnod Sat 08-Dec-12 19:00:19

I have an Oscar and Lucy was top of my girl list for DC2 (who turned out to be a James)

Greythorne Sat 08-Dec-12 19:12:46

Way too similar sounding for my taste.

JingleBellaTheGymnast Sat 08-Dec-12 19:16:06

Love Honor, would be on my list if OH ever lets me have another baby.

Miriam?
Pearl?

MissCellania Sat 08-Dec-12 19:18:21

In my accent anyway they are very similar, and don't work at all.

Dynababy Sat 08-Dec-12 19:21:43

Love Lucy and Pearl! Thanks!

BikeRunSki Sat 08-Dec-12 19:24:47

I think they are too similar for siblings.
Hope?
Eleanor?
Iris?

I know someone whose two children have these names, so to them they work fine. I agree!

Dynababy Mon 10-Dec-12 18:13:06

Wow burcham similar taste to your friends or family! Thanks for that!

Gugglebum Mon 10-Dec-12 18:52:28

The only Honor I know is a teen and lovely, but has complained in recent years of boys making jokes about wanting to 'get on 'er'. It seems to have diminished some of her positive feelings about her name. sad

vamosbebe Mon 10-Dec-12 18:57:41

Both lovely names [biased as I have an Oscar!] not sure they go together.

Our girl's shortlist was:
Freya
Maribel
Isabelle (the whole name, not fucking Bella!)
Milena

Feel free to mock!!!
