Aaaahhh!!! All of baby group/ old friends/ the world seem to be having babies in these last couple of months and they have cleared out my baby name list (it wasn't long, I'm a teacher, it rules out 95% of names straight off)
I have a DS Charlie
The options were Freddie for a boy and Emilia (Millie) for a girl.
Do I plough on and name them that or change?
What goes w Charlie? I struggled to get used to it originally as too poncey, DH's first choice and only choice, posted on here about changing it about 4 wks in,but somehow now love it and need similar names to go with it.

I think it depends who has used the nameas to whether you should stilk use tbh.
For example if its your sibling/best friend/aunt then no I wouldnt use it. But an old friend you barely speak to anymore then fine use the name you love!
Ill tell you some names i think go nicely with Charlie (which is lovely!)
Boys.
Oliver, Albert, Alfie, Benjamin, Oscar, Edward, William, James, Finley, George.
Girls.
Isla, Amelie, Lola (yes i know but too cute), Isobel, Eliza, Maggie, Annabelle, Katherine, Rosalie, Betsy, Florence, Freya, Esme, Evelyn, Iris.

Hope thats helps its a nightmare choosing names when you have worked with lots of children isnt it!

My friend who is also a teacher has gone for Chloe and Emily for her 2 dds she said because they were not associated with any specific child as she had taught loads of both Perhaps go down that route?

Charlie imo leaves a big scope for other types of names it is both classical (people will " hear" Charles) can can cope with traditional names like Edward and Henry but can also go along side Arlo and Cosmo if thats the area you want to go down..

I know a Charlie whose sister is called Willow.

I own a children's day nursery and it is sooooooo hard thinking of names. DH gets so annoyed with me as I'm always saying "NO, I've looked afer 5 of those"!!! Im just hoping that a name will come to us closer to the time that we both like as Im afraid to say I am being rather difficult!!

Thanks for suggestions so far- lots of great ideas. I love Romilly, and my lovely friend's name- so maybe that's a go Grinalthough DH not get biggest fan Blush
It's weird how others affect your choice of name rather than just picking what you actually want.
Thanks all x

Just wrote long reply and mnet message said 'cannot connect' Angry
Romilly was rejected out of hand by DHAngry
I will try stealth tactics for assimilating it as his idea Wink
Iris1 I love iris and its def a middle name as a family name on both sides, but too many too close for a first name. Lots of lovely suggestions but boys names I like taken by the many many cousins...! Although I like Edward- Eddie- but DH said everyone will think of Charles and Eddie?!! Didn't know what he was on about till he sang the song- do you think people other than my DH will honestly think of that when they see two little boys called Charlie and Eddie?!!

I think Charlie and Edward are lovely names, really makes me picture two lovely kind boys. I wouldnt worry about Charles and Eddie tbh because your boy is Charlie not Charles and i really dont think its something to worry about. There is always the possibility of Teddy as nn. I think its adorable for a little boy.

I wanted to call DD Amelia with nn Millie but I had one of those in my class at the time. I so regret that I was put off. We now live hundreds of miles away. So, unless your names have been taken by close family, don't be put off names you love.

Just keep banging on about in. Sounds like your dh was rather intransigent about he first child, you it's sort of your turn now!

I think whether you use a name that someone else got to first depends an awful lot on how close you are to them.

OP - Charles (Charlie) and Eddie means absolutely nothing to me. I've got no idea what I'm meant to be thinking about there.

Teacher here too. Hi!
I love Reuben, Callum, Isla and Lydia Smile

Firstly, I'm really glad that as a teacher you chose Charlie as I thought it may be a 'naughty boy' name that teachers avoided. I love the name Charlie

I think Ollie sounds lovely with Charlie. Friendly sounding but also sensible if they end up as lead partner of a law firm!

Help!!!! ConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfused

Right, am re-invigorating this thread as I'm in dire need of help. Baby due in 10days. Sorted for girls but cannot decide on a boys name or even think of one I don't mind
Thanks for lists above but I just need as many names as possible thrown at me now!!
Bit more background as it rules out lots of names listed above- DS has lots of cousins. Tons of male cousins, whose names I like but they are all within 4 years of each other so I think too close to tread on toes. They are:
Max, William, George (x2), Oliver, Sam, Joseph, Thomas.
DS already has Henry as a middle name- wasted! I like that!
Still quite like Fred but DH 'gone off it' (wtf?!!! He chose it!!)
Like Harry but feel it can't be shortened or lengthened, might sound 'unfinished'.
GrinHURL THOSE NAMES PLEASE Grin

I have DD Chloe 14yrs and named her before I heard every other girl around the same time being named Chloe, too, but she suits it. Grin

I also have a 7 week old DS Jude. I love his name and don't know any others.
