Boys name meaning fire?

DFiL passed away a few years ago, and PFB is a boy, so I think it might be nice to honour him with baby's middle name (first name decided on). However, his name is Kenneth, with no middle names. Even DH is against using the name Kenneth, so I've been looking into the meaning, and from what I can see, it means 'born of fire' and 'finely made/handsome'. Are there any other boys names that mean the same or are similar that we could use instead? All I've come up with is Aiden.

Also, chosen first name means river; can we have a 'river fire' name?

First name begins with D, surname C, so anything beginning with I is out.

Thanks v much in advance!!

I think that's lovely, giving your son a middle name after his grandfather.

I think Kenneth is a lovely middle name but I can see why you might not want to use it. Is there perhaps a place name or something he did in his life that you could use instead?

Blaise? Bit sideways but I have always liked the name!

How about Kendall or Kendrick rather than Kenneth?

Ignatius would have been perfect. DIC probably not so much.

Any of these?

We're using Kenneth as a middle name if DC is a boy for the same reason. DP's father also was Kenneth and passed away a few years ago.

Idris? I am off to look that up...the wee dragon in Ivor the Engine was called Idris, it has to be firey surely

In a similar dilemma we're using the family name as a 2nd middle name, (keeping the 1st middle name short).

Aidan is derived from the Irish for 'little fire' so I'm told

Oops Crumm, missed that you'd seen that! Good luck :)

Thank you for all the suggestions! Shame there's so many beginning with 'I' - I love Idris!
I'd be happy to use Kenneth or Ken as a second middle name, but DH just isn't keen on the name, although wants to include the sentiment...fortunately there's a bit of time to think of something!

Ok, found a few - what do you think of

Aden /Aidan/Aodh/ Egan - all mean fire
Brenton- derived from "bryne", meaning fire, flame
Nuriel - Light or fire of God
Tandie - Old Norse term "tandr", meaning fire

what about Kenny as the middle name? Nicer than Kenneth or Ken.

Did FIL have a middle name? Are there any place names that were special to him that could be used? What about FILs favourite family members- eg if especially close to his own Mum could you use her maiden name?

I think Kenneth may grow on your DH as it is fairly inoffensive as a middle name.

Aidan is a lovely name. I knew a girl called Blaze once-maybe that spelling? It's a bit out there though...

in all honestly. I think if you want to honour him it has to be Kenneth.

Going further away with a name that means the same but is nothing like his name is pretty pointless.

Idris is a welsh name it means lord or something so nothing to do with fire.i think you should just stick with Kenneth Smile
