I know someone whose daughter and son are called Paris and Troy. Really! Aside from being utter rubbish, I mean, if we are going with mythology Paris is a boy not a girl, and Troy is a place not a person! Its Paris and Hector surely? Or Troy and Mesopotamia?

So can you top that? Go on, I could do with a laugh.

HavingALittleFaithBaby Sat 24-Nov-12 14:33:40

When I was small there was a family at school whose children were called Charles, Amelia, Verity and Harriet and they adopted a little boy called Wayne grin

FrothyOM Sat 24-Nov-12 14:49:53

I am bringing up DD to be a prostitute or maybe a stripper if I'm lucky.

The things you learn on mumsnet. hmm

Alisvolatpropiis Sat 24-Nov-12 15:33:18

Ariel it might sound odd with the sibset but many people don't like changing an adopted child's name to fit with other siblings because it is a part of their identity.

It's not like they choose to call him Wayne?

ArielThePiraticalMermaid Sat 24-Nov-12 15:52:32

Yes I know all that....you don't need to go all pursed lips on me.

Is "sibset" a word?

I wonder how many little Waynes there are now. It was very much a name of the early to mid 70s.

Alisvolatpropiis Sat 24-Nov-12 16:02:49

Ariel sorry I didn't meant to sound purse lipped about it...was just saying that might be why he was Wayne when the others were Amelia etc smile

Not sure about sibsets dictionary credentials in all honesty grin

I haven't met a Wayne my age or younger ever. Though I do know a Sharon my age.

Jojoba1986 Sat 24-Nov-12 16:07:08

I always wanted 2 boys. We agreed the first one's mn would be Mark, after his Daddy & the second one would get John, this being both grandfathers mns. I wanted to call them Matthew & Luke. Mean DH overruled me! sad

I've heard that there are at least 3 sisters with car names locally - Mercedes, Ferrari & Bentley I believe... The story is that they're named after the cars their dad would like but can't afford! I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't heard it from several people independently. I believe there's also a Satan around! hmm

ArielThePiraticalMermaid Sat 24-Nov-12 16:07:37

smile

I had one Wayne in my class in Infants (I'm probably older than you, to be fair), and two Sharons and several Traceys.

I remembered the 5th quintuplet name: Christa, Charla, Chanda, Charles and... Chelsea!

There's a pagan in east London, about six years old.

BikeRunSki Sat 24-Nov-12 16:55:51

LMAO at Tetris and Pacman!

mathanxiety Sat 24-Nov-12 17:03:18

Mercedes started out as a Spanish name meaning mercy. That is what the car was named after iirc...

I have met a woman, via work, who called her daughter (not sure why I had to explain, as this is very obviously a girls name) Sambucca...really!

Sorry I don't have a sibling to go with Sambucca but maybe Ouzo is in the planning stages?

I have heard of Armani's, Pocahontas and knew two boys, when I was younger, one named Kenneth McKenna the other Kenny Kenny.

cheapandchic Sun 25-Nov-12 18:01:53

twin girls- Armani and Cavalli

sisters- London and Sydney

BikeRunSki Sun 25-Nov-12 19:02:17

I once knew twin girls with the middle names Scania and Volvo. Their dad was into lorry cab racing. They did have very unremarkable first names to set off their middle names though.

DangerMousey Mon 26-Nov-12 10:28:50

A thoroughly horrible woman i once worked with had named her twin girls Daisy and Clover.

DAISY AND CLOVER!!!!! hahaha, i nearly fell off my chair laughing. Both a reasonable names on their own, but together, they mean one thing: COWS.

It couldn't have happened to a nicer woman.

BikeRunSki Mon 26-Nov-12 19:37:48

Or wild flowers.

Geranium3 Mon 26-Nov-12 19:51:27

Bessie123 Sat 22-Dec-12 01:47:00

Misty and Beaujolais. In Essex, obviously.

Bessie123 Sat 22-Dec-12 01:50:48

Oh, I also knew a girl over 20 years ago called Asti Martin. No sibling but thought she deserved a mention for her parents' erm special choice

RiaUnderTheMistletoe Sat 22-Dec-12 02:32:02

Jenna and Taylor. Say them together.

TalkativeJim Sat 22-Dec-12 03:24:13

My mother used to work with a Richard Pritchard

I haven't read all of these but in my own situation just to highlight not all is as it seems at times.
When dd was born ds decided that the name Princess Rainbow was much prettier than what we wanted to call her and she has often been refered to as Rainbow, Rain, Bow, and Princess ever since. DS has a name which doesn't traditionally get shortened to Ice or Icy but we do for some reason.
So there I was happily going about my business and I called the children over and for no reason that I can really think of I called "Rainbow, Ice come on time to go" Nekminnit little old lady toddles past "Bloody Hippys"!!!! says she.
